that is the question. BOth kids went to the doctor today for flu like symptoms. we have scripts for flu tests for both but the doctor seemed disinclined to have them tested so I'm not sure whether or not to take them to SMH to do the test.
anyone have the test done on their kids? did the doctor encourage you to do so?

Honestly? I wouldn't bother. Unless you have very very young children around..or someone who is immunocompromiseD and would like to make sure they stay seperated..it really doesn't tell you anything. You already know they are sick.
On the other hand..it doesn't hurt anything.

Yes get them tested. It is only a swab up the nose and it doesn't hurt. It's better than them getting really sick and dying. If they have the H1N1 they will order Tamiflu liquid or capsules. Not big deal.

Why no Tamiflu for the seasonal? It kills a LOT more people every year.

I'm not sure that they don't use Tamiflu for the other one. But I am not a doctor so I can't answer that question. I just have had the H1N1 and know what they give you.

Because like most "treatments" for viruses..it is ineffective.

They usually simply let the flu run its course. Fluids, motrin, and tylenol.
