After mopping the floor a dozen times I noticed that the grout was looking awful. I bleached it and it did not help. I then bought some Kaboom floor cleaner and that too did not help. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I like to clean my grout (wait, I don't LIKE to clean my grout, I mean I USE) with Lysol mold and mildew shower cleaner and a stiff scrub brush. I have tiles in the kitchen on the floor and counters, and in the entryway and I HATE it! So time consuming!

You can seal grout. You can do just the lines or the tiles too. It's on my to-do list. I plan to clean up any discoloration w/ a wire brush, very carefully of course, and seal everything.

Liquid Dishwasher detergent. Like Cascade.

I used to use that to get koolaid stains off the counter. Pour a little on the spot, let it sit for a minute and scrub with a toothbrush or another type of brush.

This is for the kids' bathroom floor. Their grimy little feet have made it dirty. :ohwell:

My husband sealed the grout and I never have staining. I use soap and water to clean all my tile.

Socki - Once it's really clean, go out and buy a good sealer, spray it on and let it dry. Hope one of these suggestions have worked :)

If everything else fails, get a grout saw and take off the top stained layer of grout. Then seal the grout lines with grout sealer. I had to do this for the bathroom tile in a place we bought. The grout was white and I used a white sealer as well. Looks great. Although I still want to gut the entire bathroom when the budget allows.

Have you tried mixing vinegar with a water solution? The acidity should help get up some grime.

No, I was scared it might yellow it. I'm going down the cleaner isle during lunch and picking up some Tilex and seeing what else is available. I went to Target last week and there wasn't much to choose from. I have to make a K-Mart run today.

(Sung loudly to the tune they whistled in Bridge on The River Kwia)

Comet, It makes your face turn green.
Comet, It tastes like Listerene.
Comet, It makes you vomit.
So try some Comet, and vomit, today.

Sorry. Childhood flashback.

Carry on.

I third this, my bathroom tile grout was dark gray and I scrubbed it with vinegar and a stiff grout brush and it is white as can be now, took some elbow grease though.

I clean darn near everything with white vinegar its cheap, works great and is safe.

Q-tips not enough?

Seriously. I dip a q-tip in white vinegar and clean the ear canals. It changes the PH-balance of the damp, moist canal environment thus killing bacteria, spores, etc. that have found their way in. It results in less ear discharge and most certainly can ward off ear infections. It is especially useful to avoid "swimmers ear" after time in a pool or such.

Put vinegar in one ear, extra-virgin olive oil in the other ear and shake your head really fast from side-to-side, then spit the concoction out of your month. Instant salad dressing! :yum:

I never knew that. Thanks for the suggestion. I will be doing that with my kids now.
