Maryland Votes For Animals
Maryland Votes for Animals | Let Kindness Reign, Vote Humane (http://www.voteanimals.org)
I met a representative from this group Saturday night at the Orphaned WildLife Rescue Center Fundraiser in Solomons ( orphaned-wildlife-rescue-center.com (http://www.orphaned-wildlife-rescue-center.com/) ).
I had no idea that our State lacks proper legislation to protect animals! Please check this website for information about what we can do to help.
You can donate money, volunteer, or spread the word to others.

Good people with a good cause. However, they need to be careful of making judgements against people attending fundraising events. It doesn't make for very good PR.

Great News for Maryland's Deer
Guest blogger Joseph Lamp, Ph.D., Wildlife Advisory Commission:
Our decades of prayers have been answered. I can now report that on September 29, 2009, the United States Environmental Protection Agency approved drug #56228-40, GonaCon, a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) immunocontraceptive vaccine for white-tail deer, developed by the National Wildlife Research Center. This EPA approval sets the state for ConaCon's actual usage in the public domain, and it is not longer merely an "experimental drug" with all the caveats previously surround it as such. No longer can anyone make the argument that you must kill the deer to control them as the only viable management option.
These people are idiots.

With the way that PETA operates, I'd think another group that wasn't as radical would be welcome? I think this new group is merely trying to get better laws on the books to deter people from engaging in animal torture by making sure there are stiffer penalties for doing so.
We all have our own opinions about animal welfare, and there's room for us all with our opinions, even if they differ :boxing: LOL.

I saw that depo shot type deal for deer...at first I thought it was neat..because though I love venison..I do hate the thought of killing animals like that..but then I thought about it..how the hell would that work? you would have to actually catch and give shots to a bajillion deer..then presumably it would have to be done at regular intervals..so you would have to find another bajillion deer a few months later..it just wouldn't be feasible. I love animals too...but that is a little crack pot.
I do agree with stiffer sentences for people who torture animals though. Its sick and deserves more than a few hours of community service.
