I just got a large order of Pennfields grain and 3 of my four horses say "NO Thanks." They were on Blue Seal Vintage Performance Low Starch and they want to go back on it. They do not care for the molasses or the oil in the grain.

The bags are like 17.50 each and I will sell them for less if you take the whole order that I have left of Fibregized. This is a low starch, high fat feed. Can be used for performance horses or seniors, horses with allergies or horses prone to tying up.

I think I have like 16 bags of this grain. I'll sell it for several dollars less a bag if you take all of them. Thanks!

16 bags??! My mom owns a feed store and she says not to keep feed for longer than a month. Do you go through that much feed in a month?

I agree and I was kinda wondering the same. Depending on how long they had the feed, and how it was stored, it could have molded, and maybe that is why the horses weren't eating it. Feed doesn't keep well this time of year, cold at night hot during the day.

Some horses don't like sudden feed changes. So sometimes you have to mix it with their feed (that they like) and gradually switch over.

FYI
Pennfield Specialty Feeds are designed to meet the nutrient demands of intensely worked performance horses.

Fibregized #80614
For Horses Predisposed to RER or Grain Allergies

Fibregized is a blend of soluble fiber sources and soybean oil. This feed is a source of low starch, high fat, and extremely high fiber. Fibregized may be used for horses prone to conditions such as recurrent exertional rhabdomyolysis(RER)i.e."Tie-Up" and grain allergies. This formula has also served quite well as a no-grain, soft, senior feed.

Crude Protein (min.) - 12.0%
Crude Fat (min.) - 11.50%
Crude Fiber (max.) - 15.50%

Pennfield specialty feeds: High Beet Pulp, High Fat, Energy Dense, Calming Performance, Endurance and Event Horses, RER, Grain Allergies, Coat Bloom, Muscle Tone and Development (http://www.pennfield.com/equinefeed/specialtyFeeds.cfm)

Personally, I'd keep offering it to them. Fibregized is an awesome feed and I've never had problems with horses eating it - some horses just need a bit of time to "come around" to a new feed. I often recommend it for hard-keepers and we use it on some of our horses at the University. The nice thing about Pennfield, as compared to some other feed companies - is the quality of their products. They use fixed formulation - meaning that the recipe never changes, while other companies will use "least cost" and may change the recipe if they can get one ingredient for cheaper than what they usually use.
