This is going to be their tactic for the next 12 months, to downplay this election and shed the reasons off of Obama.

I'm sure it's not a concession yet -just crunching the numbers. If you know what precincts are still out, and how those precincts traditionally vote - then you know what kind of margins are within the realm of possibility, and thus how many votes could possibly be made up.

Yeah, and MSNBC knows them inside out and they have thrown in the towel.
It tells me that Christie is likely to end up winning by 2-4 points, which is pretty significant - especially considering that, by all accounts, he was hurt some by the third candidate.

Well yeah, but it's even better that he got his butt KICKED OUT, because now the media can't ignore the march of the conservatives. Not that they won't try. Now they can't keep their droning about the Obama movement sweeping the elections. Look out 2010

Interesting elections tonight. Even more interesting are the reactions to the elections, and what they might mean or not mean. The Republicans appear to be beside themselves taking the stance that tonight's elections are a stiff finger in the eye of Barack Obama, specifically. While Democrats are rallying behind the shield that these elections had absolutely nothing to do with Obama.
I think it's a mixture of both.
I don't think the elections tonight are so much anti-Obama as they are anti-Democrat ... more specifically, they're a push back against the left-wing policy pushes over the past year(ish) which have dominated the political landscape. Obama still has some pretty positive numbers, and a lot of people I know are still gushing with candy-flavored Obama induced euphoria. I don't think the state and local elections are directed at him, per se.
Policies like health care and cap and trade took a sharp snap back at the Democrats tonight, and if they don't wake up, it's going to be a slavering teeth that will dismember them next year. Politicians with the Hoyer mindset ("I don't care what my constituents say, I'm going to vote the way I want to") are going to be unemployed and wondering WTF happened.
The people casually dismissed by leftist politicians and the left-wing media (labeled "teabaggers") are going to be out in force next November, like they were tonight - and these people are not going to go away. Being dismissed and belittled by the left seems to vitalize and invigorate them.
If I'm a Democratic Congressman, I'd be paying rapt freaking attention to what happened this evening. These people are not just "teabaggers" and subjects within your kingdoms to be treated only as sources of revenue and unwilling victims in your political power-plays. They're people. They vote. And from what I can see over here, they're pissed off that you won't listen to them as you continue piling unwanted #### upon their heads.
The next 12 months should be fun to watch.

We won that one too.. The "liberal Republican" pulled out and showed her real colors.. BACKING THE DEMOCRAT NOMINEE!!
I'd rather have the democrat than the Republican that's going to vote with them anyways..
Bottom line with her turining all her support to the Dem, and the Dem only MARGINALLY winning.. yeah, that's HUGE.. It SHOULD have been a landsllide againsta an unknown 3rd party candidate.
The conservative candidate came across as a nut job..

Oh, I do. I think they are anti-Obama policies. They love him personally, and maybe the polls say they suppport him. But they don't support his policies. But I agree that it's also a statement against the left-wing policy pushes over this past year. I don't think mainstream America is too keen on the directioin those policies are going to take us.
The next year will most definitely be very interesting to watch politically.

There you go. I think you've nailed it on the head for many folks. Stenys attitude that I saw in person at his town hall crystallized it for me. It truly came home for me exactly how much this man does NOT care what anyone who disagrees with him thinks. I dont treat my children with that much discourtesy, and I certainly dont expect it from a man who wants me to vote for him.

I think they are anti-Obama policies.I would need to see more proof of that, at least some poll results. I think it was supposed to be a message to Dems in general, not so much Obama, that the folks realize they are being disrespected... yet they also realize they are still in control of the elite, and they will react if unhappy.
Folks are tired of all the fancy talk about the 'stimulus', etc. while having results that are taking them in reverse. From that, people are beginning to ask: with all the power Dems have been granted, and all the time they've had to work with, they have been promising to help us, yet we are no better off - probably worse. So if Dems have not been working for the average guys, who have they been working for?
Whether or not this shift was directed at him, I do hope King O and his cronies take notice. I hope it sends a chill right up his spine.

Think about that, the people are mad at how we are being treated but not by the guy in charge. Wtf?
All this is, in my view, is a continuation of the white guilt component of supporting Obama in the first place, the good old "I'm not a bigot! I have a black friend!"
Obama is a babe in the woods, totally unprepared for this job and is showing it day after day, issue after issue and it is one thing to blame it on Pelosi and Reid and Limbaugh and the prior administration and take it out on them in current elections. It is quite another to say "I ####ed up and voted for an incompetent."
Tough thing to admit. People, indies, are fixing it, so far, by voting for MORE change as a check on Obama but, they still hope he'll come around and do a good job. Which is fine. I do, too.
Long way to go.

The cognitive dissonance in astounding. I have some friends who are Obama supporters as I'm sure you do. If my friends are representative of many Obama supporters, I'm sure you've noticed the blinders that they put on when it comes to Obama... from otherwise intelligent people. I will say this forever; John McCain made the most dunderhead-ed move in the modern history of US politics when he suspended his campaign, built the drama and tension, played the mavericky card and...and...and...
Punted.
Had he simply done what the image of John McCain would have done, voted against TARP, he'd have won by proving he was worthy. As it was, everyone dying for a reason to vote for him over Obama was left with the same feeling you get when you go up to the kissing booth and find it's your sister.
