Since the 70's, VA has always elected governers from the party that is not in the White House.
Yesterday was no different.

Is this trivial pursuit or are you trying to make a point? Thrill me with your acumen.

Just stating facts. The GOP win in VA isn't this big earth shattering event that some are making it out to be. It would've been different if the GOP had won that office for the first time in really long time. Sort of like what happened in the NY23rd where the GOP lost that seat after having it for 100 years.

That is because the RINO Republican in the 23rd dropped out of the race and threw her support behind the Demoncrate. Turncoat Dede still received 5% of the vote from voters who were unaware of her dropping out and voted for the 'R' by her name. If she would have not been on that ballot or threw in with Hoffman like she should have, do you think Hoffman would have made up the 3% points he lost by? I think the answer to that is a big resounding "YES"!
:geek:
It was turncoat Dede that solidified the first Dem win in 100 years, not the Dems!

One can always speculate on what may or may not have been.
It's sort of like blamming the officials or the wind direction when your team looses.

Do you not think that if you dug into the specifics of peoples' decisions last night you would find that they had simply become nauseous at so much of what the Dems have done or tried to do in the past 10 months? But maybe that's how you like it... "It's all a pattern; we saw it coming...", in which case, carry on your happy trails.

I'm sure there are some who voted based on what you described but I think most voted based on the poor and mostly negative campaign that Dedes ran. I could even see it his commercials. A lot of attacks on McDonnell. Very little about why one should vote FOR Dedes. McDonnell's commercials were more positive.
