EWWWWWW....anybody seen these creepy things before?

Oh they are nasty....when I woke up for work at 3 a.m....I get my coffee turn on the weather channel and my adorable Boxer is contently watching something on the floor....I look to see what it is and :faint::

I started screaming, husband comes running, bumping into walls, stubbed his toe and then shouts "Just a da*m bug!" and proceeds to stumble back to bed....leaving me in the living room alone with this nasty a*s thing!

here's what it looked like!

eew that looks like a frog.... :cds: Haven't seen those around, thank goodness. I have seen some NASTY looking fly/bee/wasp hybrid things flying around. I killed two in our house (kids leave the door open to go play) and they really freaked me out. I wouldn't even know how to find a picture of it, but I've never seen anything like it before. It had the head of a fly, with the HUGE eyes, but the body of a wasp/bee - big, with a stinger at the end. Wings like a fly... at least an inch and a half long. Ugly suckers.

these guys are breeding somewhere in my garage and when I open the door to let the doors out, there is about a hundred of them waiting to either come in my house or go out in the yard with the dogs

I wouldn't have an issue with them if my spider liked to eat them(apparently they taste bad) and they didn't bite(and yea, they do bite)

I thought it was a horsefly at first... I have seen many of those on the eastern shore growing up. But these things were BIGGER than a horsefly and had a more segmented body - like a wasp. Plus a stinger on the end - I actually caught one inbetween the window pane and the screen and it eventually died then I got a good look at it. I should have taken pictures....

wait, maybe I did... hmm...
edit - nope, couldn't find a picture. darn - maybe it's still in the window

yes! on the 20th I opened the back door to the garage and was greeted with three black spiders that fell from the top of the door. I stepped outside to count 50 of them just along the side of the garage, plus many more hiding in the siding. :cds:

We've also had TONS of these spiders with brown heads/thorax and white/light tan bodies with brown spots on the back. Does anyone have a clue what kind they are? They seem to be the only kind we've really seen this summer besides those black ones.

Yeah, I always used to call those cricket moles too, but now I know what they are really called.

The worst thing about those cave crickets is they jump high into the craziest spots. My worst experience, especially since they always grossed me out before this anyway, is one when I was pulling up my pants and underwear after taking a piss where I lived and I did not notice one jumped in my shorts untill it was jumping and squirming against my testicles the moment I pulled my shorts up all the way.

OMG I hate these spickets!!! We have them ALL OVER our crawl space, so they like to come out during the winter and come into our house to stay warm. I've read that they jump sporatically as a defense mechanism, so it seems like they're jumping towards you to attack...but it is indeed to defend themselves!

Who do you use for your exterminator? I want to get rid of these things once and for all!!!

:lalala: where are all of these weirdo bugs coming from??

Bugs I can handle though - at least I feel like *I* am in control over the bug...

When we lived in Florida, we had snakes in our house constantly - now THAT is gross. A bit TMI, but once my husband was in the shower and a snake came up through the drain pipe (the cover was on very loose and it pushed it off!) He screamed like a baby and ran through the house naked

I had to go get the darn thing... in fact, I had to get ALL of the snakes that ended up in our house. My nerdy city-bred hubby doesn't want to get within 10 feet of bugs, snakes, etc.

Seriously, have these bugs ALWAYS been out and about as much as they are this year? Growing up I was outside all the time, and I all I really remember finding are the standard bugs - heck, if we found a centipede or something we thought it was the greatest thing in the world - now I see them all over the place! As the years go by it seems like I notice bigger and stranger bugs - I'm so done with this cross-breeding evolution crap :jameo:

Lisa, keep a .410 handy with rat shot in every room. or some stilts. j/k

Have you ever shot a snake?? I have - growing up we used to get bored :lmao:
It isn't pretty - might as well use a butcher knife on the thing, it just squiggles and wiggles until the nerves die. Kind of like how a chicken runs around with its head cut off. :lmao:

maybe I'll just give the stilts to my husband - or he can wear my heels :hot:

We use Guardian Pest Control, and they have been great. The first time I called them about the crickets they knew exactlly was I was talking about- believe it or not some exterminators did not know. I hardly ever see these crickets anymore and they used to be everywhere this time of year. Now we are on a schedule with Guardian, and they are wonderful to deal with.
