That is, put BACK on.
I exercise, lead a pretty active life, in decent shape but, I weigh a good 40 pounds too much. Starting January 1, I simply started cutting down on portion control and dropped 20 pounds, pretty easy, by spring, simply by doing what I do, eat what I eat BUT, just eat 2 chili dogs instead of 3, ice cream twice a month instead of 4 or 5. Three pieces of pizza instead of 4.
I tended to be a little hungry all the time but, I was in no way staving or craving. All I had to do was stop eating before I was full, something I'd never done my whole life.
So, there it was, eat, stop, and just get through the next 15 minutes as what I ate caught up with my hunger. Fine. No problem. Food, which I love, started tasting even better. Meals, I looked forward to even more.
And I lost 20 pounds.
Well, somewhere end of summer I have totally gone back to eating until I am full and, as of last night, I found the 20 I lost. :killingme
So, today is day one, again, back to eating a portion and then stop.
I'm already hungry for lunch!!! :jameo:

Hey, we know it's a life style change. I just gotta get my head back around accepting it as just the way it is.
I get by.
One day at a time.

Blame it on the cooler weather - nature wants you to fatten up for the cold winter months. I could stand to lose 20+ myself. Maybe I should try your approach.

Blame it on my love of eating!
Hey, it works. If you take in 3,500-4,500 calories a day like I do, it's really not that much to cut 500. That should be somewhere around a pound a week, keeping the same level of activity. If I can just stick to it...

I hear ya, Larry. It aint super easy choosing less food, or leaving food on the plate, or god forbid, having fewer tasty beers in a week:buddies::cds:, but its that or pack on the pounds. And I know theres certainly tougher things in life to face than going with the broiled fish with rice over the Bacon Cheese Burgerama with extra fries.

What pisses me off is that I ate the kind of things he described..I would be obese. "2 chili dogs instead of three" .... yeah.
Men. SO eats one less dorito and drops ten pounds. I eat salad for a month and drop a half a pound.

If you weren't Sasquatch's little brother you wouldn't need 4500-5000 cal/day. Look into catabolic foods to munch on between meals.:yay: Good healthy stuff that is portable for the nurseryman on the go such as yourself.

Catabolic foods require more calories to digest than the item has. ex. Med red apple is like 70-80 cals but requires over 100 cals to digest.

You never went through the, 'I'll have TWO Whoppers with cheese, two large fries, an apple pie and a DIET COKE' phase; or go to the gym and work out for two hours, then go to Wendy's, or someplace like that afterward, did you?
I remember, for a while; when I was in Middle school, I think; I would come home every day for about a year and peel and eat 3 or 4 carrots. Then before bed, I'd have cookies or chips or something. Kinda like putting a fire out with gasoline, huh?

Me, too! I love to eat, but I have to exercise. I hate working out, but I have to or else...
Actually, I do like working out because I do feel better when I work out. But making time for it can be a pain.

OMG. I'd hate to know what I'd look like if I took in that many calories a day! I'd have to spend all DAY in the gym! :lmao:

When I wrestled in HS I had to lose weight all the time. The rumor was that it took more calories to digest a grapefruit than you got from the actual food. They referred to it as negative calories.
Years later, in a college nutrition class the teacher claimed that there was no such thing as a food that took more calories to burn off than it furnished. So I chalked it up to a wrestling urban legend. I did eat a mountain of citrus fruit each season.
Now the link to the catabolic foods. I'm so confused.
