That might be too much cardio. Seriously. Look up HIT and try that..usually all you can do is about 20 min or so. much more effective..long cardio sessions do very little for you, despite what you may believe. Bodybuilding.com has some really great informative articles..try there. and dont lift wimpy weights..hit them hard and as heavy as you can handle. good luck :)

go back and re-read that isn't true.....LISS is supposed to mixed in with HIIT...the arguement between the two is inconclusive and they both have their benefits. HIIT is shown to burn fat longer because of the longer duration of elevated heart rate, but LISS burns more during the actual exercise and is more beneficial to muscle sustainment.
doing no more than 20 minutes of cardio all the time isn't really doing you much good. You aren't really conditioning your body or increasing your stamina....

"In research, HIIT has been shown to burn adipose tissue more effectively than low-intensity exercise - up to 50% more efficiently." It has also been shown to speed up your metabolism which helps you burn more calories throughout the day. (www.musclemedia.com)
Also, "A study at Laval University in Quebec, Canada found that HIIT cardio helped trainees loose nine times more fat than those who trained the traditional way (moderate speed for 20-60 minutes)." (teenbodybuilding.com)

I am sure that, like most things, there are differing views..but MUCH research has shown HIIT to be substantially more effective than regular cardio..and even if it is the same..it saves you time.
you start with 20 minutes..it increases with your stamina (like any workout)..but still stays shorter over time than just jogging on the treadmill...
My endocrinologist and doctor introduced me. Seems that good sound science points to HIIT for quick and sustained weight loss.
Im game too
height: 5'6
weight: 138
36-28-38
goal: Get back down to 125 ad tone butt and arms
I dont think that its unrealistic at all. I just started back on low carb and eating 6 times a day again. Its hard to get into the 6 times a day but I love eating :) ( but I forget how much I LOVE carbs lol )
I have also started stretching and light work outs for now. I have some bone issues and hip problems so I cant work out super heavy but I found a few knee friendly squats and lunges and I'm adding 5lb weights to that. I really need to tone my butt and arms. those are my bad spots :ohwell:

Your article is called "The best HIIT workout"..not the best workout...its not substantially more effective..it's effective in a different way..but you are coming from it from the weight loss point of view...I look at it from a conditioning/athletic point of view. It's nice when you don't have much time...but it doesn't do much when you need alot of cardio... I do HIIT for 25 minutes after I lift on Monday Wed and Friday, but I also run those days for an hour after work as well...and do 4 hours of other training Tuesday and Thursday and 2 hours on Saturday...I have to get down to 185, and I normally walk around in summer shape (which i'm not in right now) at 205-210.
in the end the only thing it matters is you are doing something:buddies:

Good for you!!! I too got on the scale and did not like what I saw! I re-joined the gym and weight watchers. Trying to stay away from high carb food, it is soooo difficult too. Not easy with a husband that doesn't care about his weight and eats anything. Keep up your good work. It will pay off.
