I think the point of religion, more or less, is to make sure people try to live righteously and do well unto others...regardless of whether the stories are real or not. Humanity is overall too stupid and cruel to handle no consequences. If there is an invisble force that will make you burn in hell for eternity and will always know what you're doing, it's more of a check on your behavior than possibly being caught and punished. But over the ages it's been bastardized into a "if you aren't my religion then i'm intolerant of you and you're going to burn for it." Religion can be very healthy if you're getting the right messages, but when you take it too far and make it negative as well, that's not good.

Regardless, I don't see what's wrong with Obama being an agnostic. This isn't supposed to be a country guided by religion.
