Street cars have VIN'S. Do the Cup cars? Or are they just 'One of....."?

Yes.....I know they are two different types of vehicles; one is street legal and the other is not.

Hmmmm. I never thought about it. Based on this though, I would think not. Of course, it is not directly from the stock car's mouth either!

Sprint Cup race cars are required to have three "stock" parts from the manufacturer. The hood, the roof and the trunk lid are all standard parts. The rest of the vehicles are pure racing fabrications.

yes, each one they build has a chassis number (from their individual shops), not all the frames and such are the same, this way they know what works and what doesn't. An universal VIN #, don't think so

Yes. They must show it to the MVA when they register the car and get tags. Then they have to go through emissions testing. And when they break a rule they send the police out on the track to pull them over and of course they first thing they ask for is drivers license and registration please.

VINS are only required for cars that are built and sold for use on highways, meaning normal roadways, and meet all standards for such. Since Cup cars are never intended for that, not, they would not be assigned VINs.

GM auctioned off a ton of concept and test mule and experimental cars a few years back. which could never be driven on the public roads, for that reason. To be assigned a VIN, you have to meet crash, lighting, and a slew of other federal regs. Not worth a car makers time and effort to do all that for a test mule.
