A little over a month ago I typed a blog about this community;
(http://forums.somd.com/life-southern-maryland/203611-hbi-builder-hidden-treasures.html)
I would like to update everyone who showed such interest, and let everyone know I am not the type to bash a company and then not post the whole story as it unfolds.
After weeks of going back and forth between the parties involved a meeting was called by the company at the McNelis office this evening. I wasn't too sure of how this was going to end as we had still been having some minor issues but we were open to the idea of clearing the air and starting new. After all these are the people building our dream home, so in a sense even with the frustrations they are making our dream come true.
HBI's owner Dean joined us for this meeting and he was a complete pleasure to deal with. He gave us more peace of mind than we have felt during this whole process, and not just because he said what we wanted to hear but because he was "TRUTHFUL". He took the blame for things that were his fault, and is now using our situation as a learning tool for future home
construction. This was the one time where I believe everyone felt they were able to state everything that was going on and feelings were not dismissed.
We didn't walk away with anything free or extra - we didn't walk away irritated or appauled. For once we left with a feeling of accomplishment that the company listened to us and valued our feelings :yahoo: This was all we ever wanted was to be acknowledged, we wanted someone to admit their mistakes, and take responsibilty for some of the way we were feeling. After tonights meeting I am hoping for a fresh start with this company.
