How many of us have actually called or visited the office of a Senator or Representative at the Federal level to state your opinion or issue? Not a fax or e-mail but an actual call or visit?

:howdy: (how many times go I get to count my visits?)
But let me turn the table. How many times have YOU gone that didn't involve a trip in association with the union?

How about a hand written and postal service delivered letter? I did that.

I have called Mikulski (got secretary & voice mail on each occasion) Same with Ben Cardin's office. Hoyer is a waste.) His line(s) are always busy and if you get through, you get a "sorry, voicemail is full."
I have the Capitol Switchboard on speed dail on my cell phone. I used it a lot during the Healthcare debacle. The number is:
(202) 224-3121. You can ask for any members office and they will at least patch you into their voicemail. Prank calls would be stupid. The White House switchboard is easily found online, but I have never called that one.
I beieve it is your civic duty to tell these folks that "work for us" how we feel on important issues.
Do I think it does any good or they listen? I seriously doubt I have ever made an impression. I am certain the sheer volume of calls must at least open their eyes every now & then.
I personally prefer e-mail so you can get back the comical canned response 8 weeks later.

Hmmm, guess the union didn't really give him a fall-back strategy again.

Why would I go to their office when they are in Paris, Tahiti or some other trouble spot

I haven't in Maryland. But while in FL, I did visit, call & actually talked to our congressman there. Cliff Stearns. Good guy, and does really well for that district. In fact, I saw a current bumper sticker for him while I was down there.

:yay: Once Lollar beats Steny I will have the extreme pleasure of being able to say I met & talked to him before he was elected.
