Does anyone knows what this means? One person told me it stood for motorcycle riders and another person said it stood for law enforcement. I've never noticed them myself, but now I'm curious.

I was told it was the "thin blue line", showing that they were part of the law enforcement fraternity and should be given a waiver from traffic enforcement personnel. As for the the truth of the matter, I don't know for sure.

Fraternal Blue Line: Home (http://www.thinblueline.org/)
It used to be a way for LEOs to recognize each other discretely but it has become a well known symbol for law enforcement now. Many people put the stickers on their cars as a way to "maybe" get out of a ticket but most cops don't take the sticker's as a true method to ID a fellow officer driving a car. Just look at some of the low lifes driving around with the stickers on their cars. You know they aint cops.

The stickers are a police memorial emblem (thin blue line on a black background), and when they first came out nobody knew what they were so if you saw one, it was usually a cop.
Now you can get them anywhere. I've talked to a few of my friends that are cops and if they do pull you over they'll ask you to proof your law enforcement. Expect the ticket if your not... Most of them don't use them anymore because of the want-a-bee's trying to get out of tickets.

It means they are a police officer of some sort (local, FBI, etc.) and I have heard don't get pulled over becuase of the stickers. I WANT ONE!

Then the FOP should come out with a "special" one…. With a different color strip to stay .. HEY! We might be able to work something out!
Lets see how many of these sell! :killingme:killingme:killingme:whistle::popcorn::coffee::otter::faint:

Nope. I know someone who is a crossing guard and she has one because crossing guards are PD employees. A bit of a stretch IMO.

The former Mrs. Crash was a cop. She just put on of these decals on her car so that she wouldn't get speeding tickets.

And, as noted, no sticker is going to make a difference, really. And even having a badge isnt a lock that you will be shown professional courtesy, although in most cases it will, unless you were really being stupid. I see lots of threads over on the cop forum where there are complaints about folks not getting a pass. VA State Police and FL State Police seem to be the most common for that.
You dont want a ticket, dont break the law, that simple.

Bumper Stckers.
One of the most common uses of that design is Government vehicles.
Pax River vehicles uses two blue bars.
Not saying for sure that is what was seen but.....

Any one can buy them. I doubt cops pay much attention to these stickers, and if they are designed for cops and a person who is not a cop is displaying one, that might not make for a happy cop when they pull you over.

The limits of sticker causes has gotten a little out of hand, there's one for everything and some blanks for new stuff. I'm making my custom sticker in Mega Millions Orange and ask for your support in helping me live my dream! Regardless of color every time I see one it essentially says "send money"!

just to be clear, these are personal plates, not government owned and registered vehciles. There is another way LEO can determine if a car is LE or not and they don't need a color coded, publically displayed symbol to make that determination.

We have a word for girls who put those kind of stickers on their cars. Actually, we have several words; none of them very complimentary.

I wonder if anyone who uses that sticker has ever actually seen the movie. Doesn't exactly paint a shining picture of law enforcement officers.

I always thought it silly for people to have those stickers on their car. When I was in a duty assignment where I pulled cars over, it isn't like I wouldn't pull a car over if they had a thin blue line, or fop, or mta, or any other sticker, license plate or any other item identifying you as a potential police officer.

That's true. It seems some people try to suck up to law enforcement officers, especially women.
