Got through almost 45 mins and shut it down. Sucked. Hated it. From the cheesy fake Boston accents to the jarring soundtrack to the bizarre artsy fartsy editing.

Next up in my Netflix queue is Mystic River. Am I going to like that better?

I liked Mystic River. I liked The Departed and I like Gone Baby, Gone.

There's no accounting for taste

Ugh.

Okay.

I got almost to the end of "Escape" - Carolyn Jessop's terrible horrible no good very bad book - before I couldn't take any more. So I guess I can finish a movie.

I did the same thing, watched about 30-45 minutes and turned it off. The accents were horrible. We just couldn't get into the movie at all. Maybe if we kept watching it would've gotten better but we couldn't stay awake.

Haven't seen Mystic River yet. Hope you like it better!

Have you tried Blade Runner?

Or Blood Diamond?

So, did you finish it? If so, How was it?

I gave it a few more minutes, then remembered that I could get "24" on demand through Netflix. Watched the first 7 episodes of that instead.

Great movie, I think. Nicholson could do Sponge Bob and I'd like it.

I have mixed feelings on The Departed. Really couldn't get into it the first few times I watched it... Then one day sat down when all was quiet around the house and I did like it.

I do think it's a little long... and the plot was pretty twisted. If you don't pay attention to everything - seems like you get lost in the complex plot.

Great plot, me thinks. Lot going on that makes sense as it comes together.

No no... Didn't say it wasn't great. You are right in that IF you watch it long enough, it'll all come together.

The more times you watch it.... the more you catch that you didn't the first round.

Which ones were cheesy and fake?
Damon's from Southey (South Boston).
Wahlberg's from Dorchester (Boston)

Now - I thought the movie was just dull.

Mystic River was good, but dull and by the end, I felt like - so?

It was one of those movies that sucked me in right away. I found all the characters just perfect; Jack, Leo, Walhberg, Sheen, Damon, the Mr. Frecnh character, Baldwin. The girlfriend. Loved it right away.

I will say that the elevator scene shocked the living hell out of me. :yikes:
