Just attended a show in the Park theatre, and it will be my last.

As the previews started, it became obvious that someone had thrown a soda at the screen recently. Looked like snot running out of the characters noses.

Manager swore he couldn't switch to another room.

I won't be going there again.

Same for me I normally don't go to the theater, but I have a date with vampires and werewolves can't wait.

Drive to Waldorf, Annapolis, Arundel Mills (we usually go to Movico at A.M.).

I MIGHT go to the movies once a year, squeezing it in between every thing else on my to-do list, and can't get hubby to go at all, so my best/only option is to drive 7 minutes, not 1 1/2 hrs...

I would rather, and most likely be safer, watching a puppet show put on by the hobos behind the library, than coming out of that place at 1030 or 11 at night.

Daughter told me her and her boyfriend go to the movies on base BEFORE they are released, and it's free.

She saw the latest Transformers movie and several others before they were released to the theaters.

MAYBE, we will be getting a new one when the new shopping area goes in behind Chaney's!! Not holding my breath, but it could happen.

My neighbor has a son in the military, he was getting DVDs to play at home just about the time it was released to the theaters. Perks.

It was good. Got sucked into the whole Twilight thing when Netflix suggested it "based on my previous viewing". Read all the books in a week, wow, book 4 is bizarre!

First series of books I've read that I prefer the movies. Might be because I saw the movie before reading the book, so I already had in mind how everything should look/feel.

"Charlie/Dad" has been my favorite character since he rolled his eyes and pulled the screen on that boy in the hospital (movie one). In "Eclipse" he thinks he has to have a birds and bees talk with Bella - priceless!

And of course, I completely MISSED the Harry Potter preview while I was out arguing with the manager about switching to a better screen :cussing:

And why weren't more people out in the lobby demanding a better screen?!?!?!

And why weren't more people out in the lobby demanding a better screen?!?!?!Because they didn't want to miss the previews, obviously.

I long ago joined the Facebook page about the lack of a good theater in St Mary's.

But I've since come to the conclusion that without a major change in the way movies are promoted and presented to the public, movie theaters will slowly vanish from the malls and main streets. When you can rent a pay per view on your home theater for a fraction of the cost - when you can stream it over the Internet at any time - what's the real reason for going to some ratty old theater with sticky floors and grossly overpriced concessions?

The only way theaters will survive in the next twenty years is, they have to present some kind of experience people cannot get at home. The traditional projector in undersized cramped unsanitary environment is slowly going extinct.

Knowing that - I probably would NOT invest in a new theater.

Yea - remember the old days when a couple hundred strangers would all gather in a huge room and watch a movie together.

Your lucky you didn't get mugged in the theater. The last time I was a movie in Lexington park there was a hobo sleeping on the floor in between some of the seats.

Hey! I wasn't bothering anyone! Keep your snide comments to yourself, mister.

Besides, your snoring woke me up.

PS: "hobo" is politically incorrect. I prefer to describe my situation as "being between permanent fixed addresses." TYVM.

The good ol' boy local politics around here is the reason competition is not able to come in and put the Park's theater out of business. Disgusting.

I haven't been to the movies in years.

Reasons. people talking and carrying on in the theater, sticky floors , bad movies.

I remember the old days when the theaters hired a projectionist. They didnt loop films and then leave the thing to run itslef. They had a manager who would make people leave who weren't quiet.

Now they send you into this room and it's a free for all.

Their were plans to but a new theater in behind BJ's. Instead the developer made an agreement with the county to build a pool on Great Mills road instead.

I disagree with you. I think you've been let down on this front one too many times. Most modern large theaters do not use film any longer. They have digital projectors that allow them to stream content that you can't get anywhere else... IE a concert, a specific sports event etc etc... it is sometimes presented in conjunction with pay per view... IE Wrestlemania.

Don't hold your breath but I also wouldn't give up hope either...

The place is probably paid for, so at that point, you don't have to sell much popcorn to pay the teenage help and turn a profit.

Took the kids to see Toy Story at St Charles last night, from what I remember it used to be a halfway decent movie theater when I was a kid about 12-13 years ago. kinda run down and ghetto now days. I miss the dollar theater up by where Trak Auto used to be...

Went to the theater in LP City yesterday. Bought my tickets online and just went right in the door. No one was there to check my print out ticket. Could have saved myself the ticket money and just walked on in!

ummmmmm let's see.... could it be that it's the only place close by? If you want to drive 30 miles or so there is a competitor in Prince Frederick and Waldorf - not sure they are much better.

The base is a viable alternative IF you can get you and your family on.

no, hot! :drummer: as far as I know the movies come to Pax on the same schedule as other theaters, the Lowes might just be slow (but they also show them longer). You only get one or two chances as they cycle through Pax.
As for DVDs before, the only way would be a pirated copy. They tightly control any prerelease material to protect the theater operators. The early releases you see on the internet are almost always pirated.
