Took both kids for their annual check-ups yesterday. According to the doctor, both are tall for their ages (no shock there) but what surprised me is that my 6 year old is actually taller than what his older brother was at age 8. When we went on vacation last summer, my older son couldn't drive the bumper cars by himself at Dollywood because he had to be at least 48". He was literally just under that but... rules are rules. I found out yesterday that my youngest is 49" already.

So, I decided to do one of those height predictor sites. Oldest predicted to be 6' and youngest is predicted to be 6'3. Now won't that piss the oldest off if his "baby" brother is taller than him. I know it did (and still does) my older sister!!

According to some site, the "average" height for a 6 yr old is 46.75 and for a 9 year old is 53.25. So my kids are about 2-3 inches taller than the average but if you see them next to some of their peers, they look like giants! I guess my kids have short friends.

My two were always in the 10% percentile for both height and weight. Doc estimated my son would be about 5' 8" at the tallest, and daughter about 5'. Son is 6' and daughter is about 5' 1".

We are tall in my family except for my sister. Dad is 6'3, mom is 5'8, brother is 6'5, and I'm (girl) 5'10. And then there's my sister. She's 5'5 which isn't short but in our family... it is! My husband is the same height as me but the boys are definitely taking after my side of the family. Soon.. they will tower over me.:ohwell:
