I have a Nikon D3000 and i need help finding the right lens and flashes. I am looking for a lens that can go up to 300. Would it be easier to just use teleconverters or extension tubes? as far as the flash goes i want something i can put on the camera and take off and use. As far as how much i am willing to spend i dont want to spend to much. Once i get used to the equipment and better at taking photos i will upgrade. Thanks for any help steering me in the right direction.

As for wanting something that goes up to 300mm, I would say get the best lens you can afford to do that. Using teleconverters and stuff, those will not give you as good of a photo as just a good lens by it's self.

Not sure how much "i dont want to spens to much" is.

I am willing to spend $300 on each.

Add a zero and you'll get a good quality 300mm lens.

$300? I'll be surprised if you can get a lens capable of 300mm for that, and if you do it will be VERY slow..

D3000 has a hotshoe. I will take any of the SpeedLight flashes..

SB 400/ 600/ 800/ 900

But, it does NOT have the ability to set a flash off remotely.

I like this one. Nikon SB-900 AF Speedlight i-TTL Shoe Mount Flash 4807 - B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/570338-GREY/Nikon_4807_SB_900_AF_Speedlight_i_TTL.html#features)

But to do remote flash off the camera work, you will need that one on the camera, and something like the SB-600 setup remotely.

If you are looking for a remote flash unit, Nikon has the R1C1 Kit that can be used with the two flashes and/or with the SB900.

OR you can just buy the SBR 200 speedlight along with the SB800 or 900. The SB 800/900 would go on the hotshoe as the master, and the SBR 200s would remote off of the 900.

Ok. Thank you so much you guys. I just want to make sure i am getting the right stuff. I have notice in some of my pictures the lighting is off. One side seems darker than the other.

Is that with the built in flash, and at what shutter speed?

Speedlight makes a HUGE difference in fill lighting and can bounce off of walls or ceiling to fill in the dark areas..

It's an amazing difference between the little flash and the hotshoe flash..
