Quran burning flap a distraction from Obama agenda (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100909/ap_on_go_pr_wh/quran_burning_obama;_ylt=Ap4VnSAwB5lqKgMGEvf0Y9.s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNvZTVybmxrBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwOTA5L3F1cmFuX2J1cm5pbmdfb2JhbWEEY2NvZGUDbW9zdHBvcHVsYXIEY3BvcwMxMARwb3MDNwRwdANob21lX2Nva2UEc2VjA3luX2hlYWRsaW5lX2xpc3QEc2xrA3F1cmFuYnVybmluZw)

WASHINGTON – First came the outrage over plans for a mosque near ground zero. Now there's anger over a Florida church's plan to burn copies of the Quran.

Caught up in it all is President Barack Obama, who'd rather be talking about something — anything — else.

Two months before the fall elections, when Obama is trying to convince Americans that Democrats are squarely focused on the economy, the last thing he needs is another heated flap about Muslims, churning up lingering doubts about Obama's religious sympathies and his resolve against terrorism. Slow to weigh in last month on the New York mosque question, Obama's team moved quickly this week to speak out forcefully against plans by a small Florida church to torch copies of the Muslim holy book on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Still waiting for Nonno to post an article supporting the right to burn the Quran, from MediaMatters.org or CrooksandLiars, etc. Waxing poetically about how the freedom of expression is so basic and a founding right in this country, no one dare oppose it, that tolerating unpopular use of this right is NOT enough, you have to endorse every use of this right, otherwise your trying to undermine the right.

What fascinates me, is how the contrast of consequences being debating, is NOT being debated itself.

Some idiot is going to burn a Quran, everyone condemns it, but if he goes through with it, there will be all this violence all over the world, our Servicemen overseas will be in danger? Huh? this is a peaceful and great religion? if you were turn the argument around about the Cordoba Mosque, everyone opposing it would be Christianphobes.

Muslims offend Americans, its America's fault for being offended.
American offend Muslims, its America's fault for offending them.
If American opposition forms as a result, its America's fault for provoking it.
If Muslim violence results, it will be America's fault for provoking it.

Is there a common thread that defies logic here? Thanks Political Correctness, there is always a victim defined by social status, NOT behaviour or actions, and the victim will always be right, regardless.

Where was this reporting and outcry when Newsweek Reported false and grossly OUT of context accounts about desecration of the Quran at GITMO by guards. That did result in violence overseas, no mention of it putting our servicemen in danger, no outcry when Newsweek had to retract the story for factual errors, when it caused so much violence and reaction. I guess, when you have a Republican President and an unpopular war efforrt to undermine, misbehavior toward that end, are just NOT newsworthy.
