So...made a quick run by Mickey D's drive through for the SO a few nights ago...while waiting at the pickup window, I observed a cute sight. A fat raccoon sauntered up to a garbage can, climbed up the side, dropped the top half of its body in with it's rear sticking straight up, backed out, climbed back down with a treasure (a bun) and then made a beeline for the play area. A few seconds after, SO's food was handed to me, and I pulled away. Parked, and walked over to the play area where the coon was devouring his meal. He looked up at me long enough for me to snap a pic with my cell, then decided he better grab his food and run before this crazy person tried to steal his food.
LOL...it was the cutest thing ever.

Just be careful.... When I was visiting a friend a few days ago, there was one that was running around during the day, not looking right, almost hobbling, and he ended up having to shoot it. Yep, it was rabid....

Aw..poor thing. I've raised several of them from babies until old enough to release in the wild, due to accidents where the mothers are killed. I'm very familiar with them and their activities. I know when they are acting normal and not. I am still very careful around them, although I still want to hug them all.
Thanks for the tip, though!

It's because they put those raccoon toys in the happy meals. It's a shame, we have a raccoon obesity crisis and they continue to lure them in with plastic toys. Monsters.

Oh, I know---have you ever felt their hands? They are so soft. The first one I raised loved to touch me with her paws...kind of like a kitten kneading when happy. She would rub her paws gently on my hands, or curl her body around my neck, and rub my face and purr....that was how you knew she was happy...she was the sweetest thing in the world. I miss her...:ohwell:

They're not too bad after soaked in saltwater, BBQ'd with plenty of 'taters.......it'll pass as good potted meat..Grade A 1, Stamp Guaranteed.

Trust me racoons are not grade A meat. If they were you would see them on the menue at Olive Garden.
