Those that were selected last night were original PIONEERS of the sport...before it was recognized nationally as a sport. Even though there are millions who don't believe these guys are athletes, NASCAR is one of the most physically and mentally draining activities out there. For David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Lee Petty, Ned Jarrett, and Bud Moore, they raced when the fledgling sport was being built. Adding ol' DW before any of them would be absurd. He was and is still very charismatic and fun to watch and listen to but he should be in no earlier than the HOF class 2012 IMHO.
