Actually, assault is just laying a hand on someone else. It does not have to hurt. Ask any cop who has filed assault charges. My daughter's ex boyfriend was arrested for assaulting a police officer because he touched the man's shoulder while they were talking. Even the policeman testified to that in court. And the teenager got 6 months in juvi.

Lollar has shown Steny and the Dems nothing less than absolute respect by actively keeping his campaign clean and - as he said in the OP video - "non-personal". Thus, for Steny to jab, poke, or otherwise taunt Charles is sheer pettiness.

If I were Charles, I would be a little offended that Steny would think such a thing would intimidate me whatsoever. Steny's going to need to jab a LOT harder to derail this competition. :biggrin:

Hoyer probably DID act like he was putting his hand/arm behind Lollar in a friendly gesture (for the cameras) but I have little doubt that he also used his knuckles to make contact.

Just watching the two of them exit the stage, it looks to me like Steny is just beside himself getting in the last word to Lollar. He's steadily yapping practically the whole time. AND the fact that Lollar KEEPS walking and acts as if nothing is going on indicates to me that Steny is throwing down some kind of gauntlet or trying to get Lollar to confront him. And wouldn't THAT make good political theater?!

EDIT: For Dixie, I don't know how you saw an open hand pressing into Charles' back because the Libertarian and photographer blocked the camera. Nobody saw the punch/touch/brush by, so you cannot make the argument it was nothing, you weren't there.

I watched that video 6 times, nowhere does Hoyer hit that lying punk Lollar, JC, talk about desperate! At approx. 5:01 on the video Hoyer moves the back of his hand gently towards Lollar's arm to get his attention, then at approx. 5:03 LOLLAR REACHES BACK AND TOUCHES THE BACK OF HOYER'S BACK, at approx. 5:14 as they walk off, Hoyer nicely and briefly puts his hand on Lollar's back as they walk off stage, nothing aggressive about it.

Lollar has already lied about when he sent in his voters registration card which he did waaaaay too late to qualify to run for governor. The moron signed it with a date which shows he did not send it in shortly after he moved here in late 2005 which is what he claims. Even the Republican Party chastised him for essentially lying, see an article on Lollar and his dirty little lie on "Red Maryland:Whoops".
