Politics don’t belong in our schools.

I spend many morning plodding around the track at Huntingtown High School. The other day I looked up along the fence line and notice a political sign placed by Sheriff Evans. I thought to myself that’s strange I was under the impression that there was a Federal Law and a School Board policy specifically stating political signs can not be posted on school property. I checked into it and my impression was correct. The sign read “Sheriff Mike Evans supports Hungtingtown High School”. This would make the sign appear to not be political, and yet under his statement is his re-election web site, and his Treasurers authority line. The Treasurers line is mandatory on all election signs. These two items clearly make this sign political. Now I know Sheriff Evans isn’t dumb, so clearly he knows it is illegal to post political signs on school property. Guess what, I’m not dumb either so it is plain for me to see that by putting that he supports Huntingtown High School he was trying to ‘get’ around this law.

If you are in the public eye you are suppose to be an example. You shouldn’t be demonstrating to 14-18 year olds that while there are laws on the books, there are ways to skirt around them. The fact that our Sheriff, the man who is suppose to uphold the law above all else is doing this is unthinkable.

I know politics and elections can get ugly, but please Sheriff Evans, let’s be an example to our kids and not drag them into the mud.

Sounds like to me he is sweating with this election. I believe he was nervous in the Primary and is extremely nervous now in the regular election. Job well done Don!!!!

CCSD- Lets hope that Brenneman can pull it off, he has worked so hard for this, and this is his third time running.

Don Brenneman does not have the well oiled support/ campaign staff that well establised candidates have, but Brenneman has made the most out of his grassroots campaign, working from the ground up to talk to the citizens and see what they want from their Sheriff. Don has been out there walking neighborhoods and door knocking since May/June and has come into contact with thousands of citizens whom are not satisfied with the current Sheriff's Office administration.
