No effing way!!! He is MSNBC. Their coverage election night was classic; Keef, Chris, Rach, Ed, Lawrence and Gene Robinson singing the same music, same verse, sharing a bottle and singing the blues together.
No single entity is more responsible for the GOP getting another chance so big and so soon than MSNBC. The incessant pewling and laughable partisanship was, in my view, indispensable in revealing and showing the left for what it is.
if I am Boehner, I demand, from the floor of the House, that he be reinstated today, if not sooner.
I am NOT kidding!!! No one would ever believe these people are this childish, this vapid, this self indulgent, if it wasn't there to be seen and heard, day after day, show after show, straight form their mouths.
Outrage.

That's total 100% BULL####.
FOX is nowhere near as partisan, top to bottom, host after host, as MSNBC.
They stand on their own as a wing of the Democratic Party.
FOX, Beck is a TEA party type, not a GOP lackey. Anyone who watches Bill O knows he's rather independent. Most of their hosts are very middle of the road, Baier, Smith, Cavuto, etc, and not an endless parade of editorialist's like MSNBC.
FOX has it's partisans. Nothing like MSNBC where everyone is except Pat Buchanan and he is decidedly anti GOP Establishment.

Are we sure this isn't satire?
The whole of broadcast of MSNBC is one big donation to the Democrat party, and they would fire Olberman for that.
he may have been fired, but it wasn't for this. They should have cleaned house and fired Maddow, Mathews and Schultz while they were at it.
I cannot wait to see if Maddows and Mathews have the balls to condemn this act by the Democrat MSNBC wing of the DNC.

This rule didn't apply to Joe Scarborough at MSNBC because he wasn't a journalist.
Olbermann is? :faint: Hardly. His opinions are the reason he's been fired from every station he's worked for (excluding MSNBC).
Just don't see how this is unethical when MSNBC's entire primetime lineup is an infomercial for the DNC.
You don't think they do?
They might have some rules in place now, but I read an article around the last presidential election discussing this very thing (news network hosts and contributions). At that time, Fox was the only network without rules against campaign contributions. I'll see if I can find it.
Also, I heard Hannity had given some cash to some campaigns, as well. Again, I'll have to dig it up.

Google gave me this, which may be what I read a few years ago.
Journalists give campaign cash - Politics - msnbc.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19113485/)
It's a lengthy article, but just a couple snips:
Traditionally, many news organizations have applied the rules to only political reporters and editors. The ethic was summed up by Abe Rosenthal, the former New York Times editor, who is reported to have said, "I don't care if you sleep with elephants as long as you don't cover the circus."
But with polls showing the public losing faith in the ability of journalists to give the news straight up, some major newspapers and TV networks are clamping down. They now prohibit all political activity — aside from voting — no matter whether the journalist covers baseball or proofreads the obituaries. The Times in 2003 banned all donations, with editors scouring the FEC records regularly to watch for in-house donors. In 2005, The Chicago Tribune made its policy absolute. CBS did the same last fall.
....
Fox News Channel is alone among the four major TV networks in placing no restrictions on campaign contributions.
....
This is from 2007, so it may not be currently accurate.
I did hear about Hannity's contributions this election cycle, but didn't think anything of it. I mean, no duh Hannity contributes to Republicans. No shocker. And I don't think anybody mistook Olbermann for anything other than a hardcore Democrat, so it's not as if some veil of impartiality has been compromised.
But if those are rules NBC imposed in trade for millions of dollars, Keith agreed to them when he signed his contract.
Me thinks Olbie got even too obnoxious for MSNBC.
"I will tell your SIR! It is my duty and obligation SIR, to do everything in my power, vocally and financially SIR, to defeat the evil empire. The dual headed monster of the GOP and Fox, and you SIR will not stop me! :flex: It is only now in the wake of Black Tuesday that I ask you SIR to do the only thing honorable and resign!"

I have to wonder what Olbermann's play is here. Was this a situation where he thought no one would care (because, for instance, such unapproved contributions from similarly situated employers have normally gone undisciplined)? Did he realize something like this might happen and was looking for an out? Publicity?
The thinking behind his play here is what I find most intriguing.

This is why FOX News is the number one outlet on television. They know how to run ####. They know their primetime has a conservative-bias, and they don't change it to please liberals.
MSNBC, on the other hand, is always changing it's primetime to please conservatives (who won't turn on MSNBC anyways). That's why Alan Keyes, Michael Savage had shows there and that's why Joe Scarborough is still around.

MSNBC says to reinstate Olbermann Tuesday night - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/11/07/olbermann.reinstatement/)
Prime-time host Keith Olbermann, who was suspended for violating the ethics policy of his employer, will be back on air Tuesday night, the president of MSNBC said Sunday.
Olbermann was suspended Friday after a news report by Politico revealed he had donated to three Democrats seeking federal office.
"After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night," Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC said in a statement.
Olbermann gave $2,400 -- the maximum individual amount allowed -- to each of the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway, and Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords.
