We just discovered earlier today that we have a sewage back-up in our downstairs toilet and tub. We have been waiting for our home warranty company to come through with someone to fix the problem. In the meantime, we are wondering how unhealthy it is to be here with the problem. We live in the upstairs part of the house and have a door shut between the floors. My husband says he can smell it and worries if we should stay at a hotel until the problem is fixed and cleaned up. Any thoughts? I've been home sick with Strep for a week and don't really feel like packing up and going somewhere but don't want to compromise our health otherwise. I can't smell it. Bottom line, can we get sick(er) by the fumes over night?

Have You Tried A Plunger ??? Drain Cleaner , Snake.... ???? Try To Clear It Yourself, Why Wait...
Or...........

Open A Window Downstairs And Leave The Door Shut...

Got it. Thanks, but it wasn't that easy a fix with waste coming up in places we never had it come up in before. We had a hard time getting a plumber out late at night but finally found a company that we'll be using anytime we need them-awesome customer service and service man. Turned out our septic was filled and overflowed. We had it pumped not too long so that was a shock (totally not from over-use). The septic guy who pumped it said a lot of people were experiencing the same problem because of the heavy rains we had. (I don't remember the whole story.)
