I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix P100. I was able to transfer the pictures to my computer the first few times, but this weekend, it has stopped working. When I connect the camera to the laptop by the USB cable, the new pics show up on the screen, but when I click on "start transfer", i get a error message that the program has stopped working. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't. Anyone else have this problem or have any idea how to fix it? The manual was no help.

I would check on faults related to your specific OS. Could update the firmware (http://bit.ly/9vHKpD).
Have you checked the Nikon forums?

I've always had that problem with mine... What I usually do is plug the USB into the computer, and then I go to "start > computer" and your camera should pop up there with all of your pictures. From there I just drag the pictures into the folder that I want them.. Let me know if this works for ya.

exactly. Instead of using the software, try to use your camera like its an additional drive and just move the files from one folder (camera) to another (computer).

I prefer to take the SD card out of my camera and insert it into the SD slot on my laptop. If you can do this, it can save a lot of headache.

:yeahthat: And if you don't happen to have an SD slot, you can use one of these...

I was able to get them transferred using Picture Mover on Sanpfish...uploaded them onto the computer as well as uploading them to snapfish. Thanks for the other ideas though...may try them next time.

This is the recommended method to move files.
