I just totalled up my gas expenditures for the past few months. I'm sitting at $320/month average.

What do you guys spend at the gas pump?

For both vehicles we average about $365.00

About $460 for me and $350 for wifey. The price you pay to commute to DC from Mechanicsville... we commute together when we can.

Lugnut

Whoops, I should have mentioned that is how much I'm paying for a single vehicle.

Maybe 20-30 bucks a week total? Always less than 100/month anyway.

Just went online to check my bank...$220.00 per month. Not bad considering I drive to Capitol Hill 5 days a week. (one vehicle)

Most of mine is spent on treks to the beer store.

I'm pretty much a hermit so don't drive much or far. I only put in $100 worth of gas for the total year.

$50.00 for me, $80.00 for the wife. It helps when you're living 4 miles from work.

Pretty wide spectrum for fuel expense.

One driver in household, 20 miles to work and back and a few errands is all I do.

Ha ha..I was going to mention that too. I do not drive to work so my monthly vehicular gas bill is small. But boating season?...phew..$300 a week is not uncommon.

Haha! Boats can be eeeeevil...

I've grumbled in the past when I filled up the tank. But never paid too much attention to how much I was really spending.

My total monthly expenditure (loan payment, insurance, maintenance, and fuel) for transportation is slowly creeping up.

I fill up twice a month. Used to average $50 a month, but now it's right under $80.

Prior to that, I used to commute to DC and averaged around $300 a month pre-current gas prices.

If I had to pay for gas, it would be about 300 a month for just my car.

I drive from White Sands to Greenbelt every day, I spend around $400 a month and I have a Honda CRV. Heard DJ's talking on the radio this morning that by summer it would be $4 a gallon. Really need to start talking to supervisor about working from home a couple days a week. It won't be worth it - would be spending my paycheck on gas and have very little left over for anything else.

Momma - Prolly the same... But she drives farther to work.

I'm thinking this would make the monthly payment for the Nissan Leaf sensible.

When I can ride the bike I personally spend about $15 a week, I gas up every Monday when I'm in town.

Now that we live on a dirt road and can't get the bike out, about $70 a week. SO about $350 a month.. BG is probably about 2/3 of that. A little over $500 a month total.

And this is one of the major issues Bush and now Obama simply don't care enough to fix, the monthly drain right out of our pockets, the average folks. This and housing have been core problems for years now and neither party cares to fix either, as simple as the fixes are.

So, scanning the posts here, we're looking at somewhere around an average of $300 a month for gas. Half of that, at least, is flat out income transfer to other nations, most who are not our friends nor do much trade with us.

So, $150 a month times 12 months; $1,800 a year. That's after tax dollars.

For what?

Well, we had a POTUS who tried to address this problem. Went for some very unpopular, but needed, choices.

He was voted out.

Makes a big difference. Both of our work places are close to home so we normally spend just shy of $200 per month; however, that doesn't count extra trips, just the normal work commute and local stuff.

For a two commuter household we are paying about $500.00 a month, this includes a trip out to West Virginia twice a month.

About $200 a month in the winter maybe a little more. Warmer weather, probably less than $100 on the motorcycle, but that's just back and forth to work.

I have a vehicle that gets ~35 MPG and another that gets ~21 MPG.

I usually drive the tank that gets 21. My choice and the expenditure is more.

Luggy. What are you driving?

Monthly gas is $200 for me and I would guesstimate about $150 for Dutch.

He is close to work. I travel at least every other weekend.

Are you really only getting around 18.5 avg MPG in your Sebring?
I have a 2007 Sebring and the lowest I get MPG-wise is around 25 with an avg of around 28. On the highway on long trips I can see 35 mpg.

I was unaware that Carter favored expanding domestic production. I know Bush I opposed it. Was Ford against it as well?

I know Dubbya opposed it.
I know Clinton opposed it.

My best MPG for a fill up was 21.24MPG
I sit for hours at a time, going nowhere. I work from my car, in my car. Also run the AC lots. and drive a little over the speed limit.

Ford asked for a tariff on imported oil, the end of price controls on domestic oil, and a new tax on domestic oil producers. His goal was to stimulate domestic oil production, which he believed would cause prices to drop in the long term as supply increased.

>50 MPG with the bike.. If there were interstates down here it would be >60

40 - 45 when I can't keep off of the throttle..

A 7 gallon tank.. so at the most a fill up is $21, but normally every Monday I'm about a 1/2 tank.

WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!! Don't we all?? Seriously, 80 miles roundtrip per day, 9 days every two weeks. It sits on the weekends, and I "guesstimate" I spend about $50 per week. Hubby is probably about the same dollar amount, but he has a Durango and shorter miles per week. Arrrgggghhhhh! You just made me realize exactly how much we spend on gas. :cds:

wife spends about 70 a month driving 30 miles each way to work and the various around town trips.
I spend about 160 a month just back and forth to work.
we always use her car for the trips that we take that are not back and forth to work.

Wont mention anything about the few weeks in summer when the camper is on the back of the truck,, that might be closer to 150 a day during the towing.

Spend about $80 a month in gas. Have one jeep that is used by one driver for commuting to work, about town, and occasional trips up to DC and Baltimore. My commute to work is about 6 miles.

This site tells you the gas prices in your area. They don't include "members only"-type places like BJ's though. I think BJ's gas prices are pretty close to these; if not lower. IDK......

Thing is.....to get gas BJ's you have to be a member.

I spend next to nothing going to work, since I am within 5 minutes from work. But I do pick up mail for my job and get reimbursed for the mileage on that.

OTOH, I'm the only driver in the household so I run myself and the Things around for our various & sundry activities, and appointments. A tank lasts me about 2 weeks, so I'm maybe at $70.00 a month at today's prices. :ohwell:
