That's pretty good.
Although I don't think the headline or the article should refer to them as "botched environmental forecasts"... They should be called "Politically motivated sensationalist doomcrying, which had the desired effect during their times"
But that's not a very compact headline.

The comments from the True Believers are interesting. I don't understand why people get so invested in something like this, to the point where they would rather look like idiots than admit they were wrong.

I know, even after being proven wrong, they still try to defend their position. One guy said "well it didn't happen here but it happened there". :killingme
Oppenheimer told FoxNews.com that he was trying to illustrate one possible outcome of failing to curb emissions, not making a specific prediction. He added that the gist of his story had in fact come true, even if the events had not occurred in the U.S.

Because they have invested so much of their time, money, and entire way of life on these beliefs. It really is no different than a cult. When the fraud, theft, and lies are exposed, the true believers still cling to their beliefs.
How would you feel if you found out that your lifes work turned out to be wasted?

That's one thing, but what about the civilians? Normal people, who have no financial stake in these claims, yet believe it to their dying breath regardless of how many studies come out debunking it? It's fascinating.

Sigh.
I remember when the internet was chock full of smart people.
Except during September.
Unfortunately, it's still September 1995. :ohwell:

Actually, I first got on in late '94, but nobody knew what the hell to make of it then. By 1995, however, the POWER was being realized.

I first got on the internet in 1983. Seriously..and on a Radio Shack Model 4P running CPM. I was a research tech employee at a major university..and we had access to that 'internet thing' that Al much later claimed he invented.

Not really any different than all of those faithful Jim Bakker followers. It is just like a cult.
