woke up this morning to a non flushing toilet. The shut off valve has been removed - there's no water coming in at all. There is water coming in to the tub and the bathroom sink. Just none to the toilet. Any ideas?

he removed it to rule it out.

First time dealing with a frozen pipe....short of cutting a hole in the wall, what do we do?

Raise the house temp a bit and hope the sun heats that side to the point it starts to flow. You can try heat tape, but the block may be further down the pipe than the tape can be effective. A blow torch gently used on the end of the pipe may help too.

Does the pipe go down into a crawl space below the floor? Use a space heater to warm the crawl space.

Crank up the heat in the house.

Depends on where the pipe is & where it is frozen. Somehow, you've got to warm it up. We use a hairdryer with our washer pipes (long story).

also open any cabinet doors to allow heat to the pipes

Oh and hot water does not freeze faster than cold water under certain circumstances.

You've got one more frigid night ahead tonight (13 degrees) so make sure you keep the bathroo door and cabinet door open all night.
