So, after last year's shameful rhetoric from President Obama, which Supreme Court Justices do you figure will attend? I read somewhere that Justice Alito indicated he wouldn't be attending. What about Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Kennedy?

Alito is in Hawaii, long scheduled so the story goes.
Sounds like a redbox night to me.

Don't need to see Obama on TV......again......and again......and again spewing out his socialist agenda. Besides, the news channels will have him on tomorrow....again.....and again....and again.

Well, that explains it. Did he by any chance schedule his trip on January 28th of last year?

I have all three of the Porkys movies to enjoy tonight. Can't wait to see Kim Cattrell as "Lassie" agan.

Six of the nine are expected to attend.
The other likely no-shows are justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, who rarely attend the speech

Are you suggesting that network partisanship has gotten so bad that NBC wouldn't televise the SOTUA if a Republican was giving it?

No, I'm saying that if Obama were to give this speech on a day that has no good TV - like Sunday or Wednesday - I'd vote for him.
Or rather, I wouldn't not vote for him because of this.

I usually don't have the stomach to listen to these things (regardless of who happens to be President at the time), so I doubt I'll listen to more than a few minutes of tonight's address. But, if were listening to it, I'd hope to hear something about a repatriation tax holiday (I dislike the term repatriation tax as I think its implication is misleading, but whatever). There's been some speculation that President Obama might suggest one. That seems like wishful thinking to me, but maybe not. At any rate, I think President Obama would deserve some credit if he made such a suggestion.
It just doesn't make sense to discourage (effectively) foreign investment like we do, and any window during which we stopped discouraging it for a while would be a good thing.

As a wrestling fan (yesIknowit'sfakeleavemealone) this speech is full of "cheap pops". A "cheap pop" is when a wrestler is cutting a promo and says little soundbites of what the audience wants to hear and will get the biggest cheers.

I admit it, I am zoning out. I got home late, we had dinner late and I'm just zzzzzzzzzzz not into it. He's not saying anything that I can believe in.

And it seemed like nothing more than platitudes, besides.
Awaiting the Republican response by Rep. Ryan. And the TeaParty response fron Michelle Bachmann.

Yes, it was a thinly veiled dose of BS.
I missed Ryan's rebuttal - I'll have to see it on youtube.
I did catch Bachmann's rebuttal and I thought it was pretty good.
One thing though, don't know why they had her looking off to the right instead of into the camera. Maybe she is not so skilled in teleprompter reading? If so, how refreshing. :singer:

Bobby J screwed the pooch big time last year, hell he even admitted that in his book. He said it was the first time he had ever used a tele prompter.

Boehner doesn't really look like he's buying ANY of this...
That's because he already sold us out.
He made his deal with Obama on tax rate extension, EXTENSION, so, he got NOTHING, and gave more spending and that was the key to Obama getting START, a poor piece of work, DADT, another give something for nothing move, and all the rest of the lame duck legislation that flat out resurrected Obama when he, Obama, should have been paying the piper for his first two years of slamming this country further left and being the most divisive potus in our life times.
This State of the Union speech should have been Obama coming to grips with the overt rejection of his policies, not the rebirth of his presidency and likely re-election.
Baynor wasn't buying. He had already done his selling.

She needs some practice.
