Anyone know of a place to get Pho? The closest places I know of are in Alexandria. I can make it myself but I thought I would check if anyone knew of some hidden gem. Thanks!!

I don't know of any in Calvert and am totally unfamiliar with St. Mary's county, but there are two we go to every so often...the one we like in in D.C. ---->Nam Viet (http://www.namviet1.com/)

and the Saigon Noodle House in Crofton (couldn't find a web page).

We're both big Pho fans, and at both locations it is very delicious. At the Saigon Noodle House, the small size is plenty.


Neither place serves their "nams" (garden spring rolls) with mint leaves, so we'll be bringing our own next time to lay between the romaine lettuce and the spring rolls to complete that "to die for" flavor punch. :drool:

Summer Rolls are served with mint leaves too, served with peanut sauce. Used to get them locally at the Thai place in San Souci that closed a few years back. Made a good lunch. The only other place I've found them (although not looking very hard..) was at a place not far from Crystal City in DC.

I remember trying Vietnamese food the first time ever in the Reims area of France (champagne country). It was a restaurant Nenette frequently went to when she lived there years ago. The first crunch through one of the deep-friend rolls hooked me forever. Also, the cold-served ones were awesome as well (they were wrapped in a rice paper, but also had that mint pop with the lettuce). :yum:
