Middle lane, emergency vehicles were just starting to get there. Traffic already backed up on 235.

Like the two I have seen in the last three days? Someone rear ended another car?

Yep

Seems like it happens every other day for a while then it stops for a few weeks, then starts again. Worse in the afternoon going home.

Well, on a related note, and why I asked, expect this trend to get even worse if the county commissioners go ahead with red light cameras. They don't reduce injuries (studies available) even in place with lots of red light accidents (which I dont think we have) but they do increase rear end collisions (studies available) .
So, if, like me, the majority of the accidents you see on 235 appear to you to rear end collisions, you might ask yourself why we would deploy a system that will increase the most common accident we have?

Maybe left lane impeders are to blame - where's the blonde?

You didn't happen to see the one last Tuesday that I happened to be involved in, did ya? North on 4 in front of Walden? THAT made for a lousy evening.

I have just started a little game in LP City.
It's sort of like prisoners counting the days down except I mark the days in a row I see somebody blows through a red light - as defined by the traffic laws: Have to be in the intersection when the light turns red. So far I am up to five days in a row. Yesterday a particularly brave person in a black truck ran a full red, turning left onto 235 S from Rt4.
It seems every time (not every day, but every time) I drive that road somebody goes through a red light.
I would hate to see red light cameras, but with this kind of revenue stream it will be soon....
Side question: Are intersection blockers, like during rush hour, considered red light runners?

No, Deekay, sorry.
Smilin, as I understand it, no, its not considered running the light if you are in the intersection when its red. If you enter when its yellow, then you must proceed through, of course, and its not illegal to enter the intersection when its yellow. So, no, you are not seeing folks who would get tickets. Md code as best I can find it.
"(g) Steady yellow indication.-
(1) Vehicular traffic facing a steady yellow signal is warned that the related green movement is ending or that a red signal, which will prohibit vehicular traffic from entering the intersection, will be shown immediately after the yellow signal. "
So, no revenue form the folks you have seen, except that one guy. And no, while intersection blockers are %99 idiots, and %30 azzholes, they are not red light runners. Can be cited for blocking traffic, though, and I wish we would spend a few hours on occasion, say 2-3 a week, on enforcing that.

I wish they would enforce that. In fact, I wish that SOME time would be spent enforcing ANY traffic law other than speed, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.
I'd love to see some tickets go out for failing to stay in a lane, or tailgating, or failing signal properly. It'll never happen, though.

Interesting. A friend went into an intersection, light turned red before she reached half way across, received a ticket. Trooper explained she hadn't reached the other side before the light turned from yellow to red. She paid the ticket, it was expensive too. Guess she should have gone to court.

Don't suppose you could ask for a copy of that citation, could you? See, the citation has on it what portion of the vehicle code you violated. That would tell us if it was impeding traffic or running a red light. His explanation to her could cover either case, seem to me. The MD code isnt very clear on this.

No, I think it was paid, then receipt dramatically crumpled up and thrown out!...:killingme
The code is very specific, you are absolutely right. I saw the ticket but don't remember any code specifics. The thing I do remember was that the fine and points were impressive.
What's scary at the Town Creek intersection is the people either running through the right turn lane or turning into the right turn lane right after it.
I used to use the right turn lane to get up to speed before changing into the next lane, but stopped after nearly getting TBoned by some idiot going through the intersection.
Now I wait for a break before I do anything and always look left, last before I move...
