Dont get me wrong, nothing against Miatas an extra 30-50hp wouldn't fix, and I insist the kids first car will be a stick, I just don't drive them due to bad knees, not a dislike for them.

I had planned on adding the supercharger for about $5K (another 80 hp), but getting laid off put a damper on those kind of purchases

That will do that.........I think I would lean toward turbos, I like that on a 4 cyl, or a small V8.
