I went to a bunch of different stores this evening looking for some small banana trees, came back with nada.

Anyone know who's got banana trees?

Are you looking for an Ornamental Banana tree or a regular one? If Ornamental, just go online. They have large selection and would tell you which one will survive our area, which is coded 7 if I'm not mistaken. If you want a regular one, there's a house next to Greenview Elem in Chancellors Run road that has some banana trees.

Yeah, I saw her out there transplanting a few. Had one in her hand as I drove by.

I could order them, but I just figured someone would have them for sale locally.

Not a long enough growing season for a fruiting tree. I used to have a bunch of them, but they were in pots. Got tired of lugging the pots inside in the winter.

I (itsbob) just ordered a bunch of Blueberry bushes from them to see how they do. Checked the review sites and they have many bad reviews, but they also have a good share of good reviews. Figured I'd try them for some cheaper blueberry bushes first before I hit them up for mature pear trees.

Their selection seems pretty cool.. I've never seen a purple banana before.

Wentworth had them last week, although I went to the one in Prince Frederick which may be further than you want to drive. We've had ours for 3 years now, it's ridiculously huge. We always cut it all the way down in October and mulch over it. Ours has gone from 2 "stalks" to 30. They grow so fast!

Thanx, might be worth the trip.

The ones I had were always making new shoots, no place at that time to go with them. I need something to fill in a blank spot in front of the house.

The website is taking a while to load. I want a pink banana and a pink pineapple! I had the most beautiful pink pineapple years ago and baby daddy killed it by accident.

I bought 2 last year at Wentworth's in Charlotte Hall. They were supposed to be hardy to -20F but they didn't make it thru the winter (they were planted close to our house).:frown:
