Is this thing on?
my daughter (grown and married) goes to dr. Mehta (sp?) in the Bean building in Hollywood. She used to go to Children's hospital until she out grew it and now goes to him. She's very happy going to him and her lung disease is managed very well.

go downtown.......someone affiliated with either GW, Georgetown, or the Washington Hospital Center....forget these country doctors, unless they are tied in to one of them....
sheesh... I love how my reply is only 2 mins after their last post and they are poof!

I have an appointment with Mehta in 2 weeks - I am a little anxious as time is everything now and I want to not be wasting it -
especially if I need to go somewhere else if I don't get a feeling of competence here.
(I only look like I am not here)

I'm not familiar with any Doctors in your County, but am familiar with the few that are here in Calvert County. My advice to you is, that if you have a potentially Life Threatening Condition, I would go out of County, preferably to Johns Hopkins Pulmonary Department. All the Doctors that I am familiar with are VERY good, but it's best to go to a place that deals with all kinds of Pulmonary Issues on a REGULAR BASIS. Keep a Pulmonary in your geographic area, but go else where for more serious conditions. I hope that you are going to be OK, and that your Local Doctor will be enough. Take care.

What's the problem, if you don't mind me asking for everybody else?

I like Dr. Mehta
Mehta is good. Stay away from Yousef.
Dr. Mehta found is very thourough. While not affliated with the hosps. up the road, he refered me to a surgeon at WHC, and I have been very happy with the care from both of them.

A close friend of mine was told they had inoperable cancer by two doctors in Southern Maryland........finally went downtown, they found it was operable, had surgery, cancer was removed without need for chemo or radiation....that was 7 years ago...IMO I would find someone affiliated with those downtown hospitals...I would not have that type of operation in Calvert, St. Mary's, LaPlata or Southern Maryland...good luck, hope that's not the problem....

I am seeing Dr. Marshall @ Georgetown University - being anxious is a terrible thing. I also have a mass and am having surgery in a couple of weeks. Nerve racking. Good luck to you

Thank You and good luck to you as well. Extra prayer for you coming up.
I would think if you have a mass, you'd go up the road to a surgeon that specializes in that. I think Dr. Mehta is good for chronic diseases, CoPD, asthma, chronic lung, etc... but for a mass, I'd not waste any time and go to Hopkins, Georgetown, WHC, and the like. Best of Luck with your treatment. Keep a positive outlook. It helps.
Dr. Mehta is a pulmonary specialist, not a thoracic surgeon. He refers his patients who need pulmonary surgery " up the road" He has a great relationship < and reputation > with the docs at WHC, GT, etc. He is certainly capable of diagnosing pulmonary disorders, including the ones you mentioned. I had mutiple x-rays, CAT, PET scans, PFTs etc. both pre and post op. I am very satisfied with the care I have gotten from him.

I know someone who was just diagnosed with lung cancer at 33 yrs old. Can you give the full name and phone number for Dr. Marshall and your opinion of him/her? I would like to refer my friend for a second opinion.
