So my riding lawnmower is fixed. One of the mandrels broke all 3 mounting tabs.
Boy is tall enough that he can safely drive it around the yard. :yahoo:
Once he can demonstrate that he is comfortable and in control to my satisfaction, he can use the rider instead of the push mower to cut the grass.
Only one remaining obstacle. He ain't heavy enough. Tractor spins its tire when he tries to go up the hill. I need to add weight to the tractor. Anybody have some old weights (as in barbell weights) gathering dust in their basement/garage that they want to part with?

How much does he weight and how tall is he? I have same problem with my riding lawn mower. Now, I have a new riding lawn mower that doesn't require my weight to stay on.

Until you find some weight, you can try letting a bit of air out of the rear tires. As long as the grass isn't wet, it should provide a bit more traction.

Think Carroll's put Alcohol in.mine for ballast to compensate for the FEL. Now have a ballast box that weighs probably 500 pounds on the back.

Done already. Running just enough in the rear to not be flat.
The do sell wheel weights that bolt on to the side of the wheels. Mostly used for people that try to use the little lawnmower to push snow.

I have them on my JD. There's no way I could cut my side hill without them.

Can he reach the pedal without lifting his butt off the chair? If not, add wood block on the pedal to help him keep his butt on the chair. You can always use a bag of sand and put it on the back of lawn mower to help with the weight issue.

I moved the seat all the way forward and he can reach easily if he's sitting foreward on the seat.

I dont just try, I do, :yahoo:saved my back last a few times. It aint pushing six inches wet, but 3-4 inches just fine. And with a 200 foot driveway, that was just what I needed.
I think the weights ran me 60-80 bucks or so.

And the weights added to the rear wheels is a safer solution than putting other weights on the rear deck.

:lmao: Just laughing at the thought of your boy bouncing around on that thing! But sharing in your joy that he's reached the age to be taking on the job!! Way to go, Dad! :yay:

after the last few winters, Ive been thinking about either doing that, or getting the plow for the front of the truck.
Problem with the truck plow is that as soon as people find out you have one, you are their best friend anytime it snows.. sorta like putting a pool in the back yard, more friends than you know what to do with.
