makes you creative:killingme

saw the other thread and it reminded me that I make my own febreeze :diva:

I am a total febreeze freak (I like the glade fabric and air, actually). I spray it constantly, love the stuff. but I am also poor. Soooo if I don't steal it from my parent's house or get it on sale..I make my own. I fill the bottle with water and add a few drops of fabric softener (I lovee my snuggle) shake and spray..or instead of fabric softener I add a few drops of essential oil. bath and body works has some amazing scents in the oil and the smell is lasting. I have never had a problem with either of these leaving spots or ruining my fabrics in any way. (I tested them before I sprayed it, obv)

and a bajillion times cheaper because I go through so much.

Because Monster has stolen all of my "pamper" funds, I haven't had a real facial in forever sooo I mixed an egg white, a teaspon or so of olive oil, and two crushed up motrin. Amazing. The "recipe" called for aspirin, but I am nursing so I wanted to stay away. The motrin, I found out, works better anyway. My skin was so much softer, smoother, less congested looking, and less red (a bonus for me, I am so pale I am see through so every tiny bit of color is noticable)

Big lots often has nicer shampoo for cheaper, super cheap generic drugs, and my glade noticeables refills for about a dollar cheaper than walmart. They also have pretty decent paper towels, better than the "bounty basics" I had been getting with coupons for about the same price. Their cleaning supplies are MUCH cheaper than walmart for the SAME things. I can get diapers cheaper other places with coupons, though.

speaking of diapers, the target brand diapers are great..they are cheaper AND target releases store coupons for their brand all the time.

also, on the poor front..I got a really amazing notebook at target..they have a line there called organizHer, corny but whatever and I got a Bills notebook that is fantastic for helping me manage my money and bills. It has pockets for every month to put recipts, contested bills, renewal notices, etc...a place to put every bill for each month, the amount, when it's due/paid and a place for a confirmation number. I set it up a couple months in advance to forcast my cash flow. I pay most of my things with my web bill pay, but this allows me to keep track of all of them in one spot, even bills I pay over the phone so I never miss anything. It was only a couple bucks, and is very pretty..

How to Make Your Own Air Freshener
from Amazing Home Problem Solver

You’ll never buy a commercial air freshener again after you’ve made your own! Many people swear by homemade fresheners made with baking soda or vinegar, which act as deodorizers as well as adding a gentle scent.
Both lemon and baking soda are traditional odor eaters and this recipe couldn’t be simpler.
Ingredients

1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups (500ml) water

Directions
1. Combine the ingredients in a bowl and allow the mixture to fizz. When fizzing subsides, stir well.
2. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle that produces a fine mist. Spray rooms that need freshening two or three times a day.

But do you love oxyclean? :eyebrow:

I compulsively add it to every load of laundry. No idea why. But the stuff is CRAZY expensive for what you get. So I have been trying to wean myself off and only keep a little around, because it is really good at getting stains out of the carpets/couches etc.

Ihave a thing about household supplies/cleaning supplies. I just love them. I shope for them like other women do shoes. :killingme

that reminds me...fabuloso (walmart, grocery stores, dollar general) is awesome stuff..the green one is my fave it smells good, cleans great, is cheaper than bottled water :killingme and when I mop my floor with it it smells good for days. I also use it to clean out the trashcans..keeps them from smelling.

I am weird about bleach. I got some on my favorite pair of pants as a tween..and it haunted me forever :killingme

I do pour a cap or so into the toilets when I clean them and clean my fridge out with bleach water..but I can't stand the smell, it gives me headaches.

I can't remember why we bought it, but we've had a generic tub of oxyclean for a couple years and I can't bring myself to throw it away so lately I've been dumping a scoop in when I do laundry. I have no idea if it's even doing anything.

That's the worst part! Neither do I :lmao: I started putting it in when I washed the dogs bedding..and it did seem to make them smell cleaner. So I started dumping it in every load.

Dollar Tree. They carry name-brand toiletries, laundry and kitchen detergents, cleaning supplies, etc. and everything is $1. Some things I use are actually cheaper elsewhere but some I know are double or triple what they are at Dollar Tree. It's awesome to walk out with 20 items and it only costs $20 plus tax! Unless you're a coupon junkie you can't do that anywhere else.

fabuloso

I swear by it (the purple kind). I have found it at the Dollar store in San Souci. I got really lucky and found it for $2.00 at Big Lots and had a $1.00 off coupon awhile back. It's at Big Lots for under $2.00 now.
