On sunday after getting our power back on the alarm for our septic came on. I read that heavy rain can slow down the draining process but what I don't know is how long does it take for it to correct itself. Also we had someone from copseys come out last year to replace the floater inside of the septic and was told that everything looked fine.

The alarm means the pump isn't coming on. Check to see if there is power going to the pump. Check the circuit breakers first. Check that there isn't a problem with where the pump plugs in. We had something roll down a hill and hit the plug just the right way to knock the plug out of the socket.

All the issues we've had with our septic have turned out to be electrical. They were relatively easy fixes and we learned the hard way that it is cheaper to check these things than to call a septic company to come out and have them check it.

Check the post-hurricane thread. It says if the alarm for a septic grinder pump doesn't reset within 30 minutes, you need to make a call. Details in the thread.

It doesn't always mean it's not coming on. We are in a low-lying area and sometimes ours goes off during a heavy rain or high tide when you're running something else like a dishwasher and the pump can't keep up.

Also, if it went off immediately as the power came back on, remember it wasn't running and the levels were probably high.

Well, she never came back here, so I assume it's a non-issue.

You're Welcome, BTW.
