View Full Version : St. Mary's County Fair - Are you Going?
Just curious to see how many people plan on going this year. I think the weather may cause it to be a muddy mess.

We were going to go today, but not in this weather. Not sure if we'll have time to go this weekend.

It almost always rains before or during the fair.
We used to go when my Brother and I were kids.
We would make it a family outing. Dad would gripe about parking and Mom would gripe about the "livestock smell," but we would still have a good time.
Little Brother lives in TN now and I haven't been to the fair in years.

I intended on going for a few hours each day but not in this weather. Eventually, I will have to go and deal with the mess. Why do they insist on having it the same weekend every year? It's been this way since I was a kid. I really do not remember one fair weekend where the weather was great. I vote to have it in October!

Went last night to count all my pretty ribbons :yahoo:
Will probably go a couple more times over the weekend, plus volunteered to work and need to pick up my entries Sunday evening. It's traditional to wade through the mud at the fair.

Do you think they will stil have the horse pull? That is what we usually go to see but I think it is too wet and dangerous to have tonight.

Love the fair, but this rain makes it unflavorable and muddy to enjoy. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday.

We're over here in Calvert, but planned on going to the STM Co fair on Sunday. If the weather is bad, we're opting out. :frown:

Thanks. This makes me happy.
The light wt. horse pull was postponed until Saturday night with the heavy wt. pull, weather permitting. At least tomorrow night, it's not going to be a downpour like today was. fingers crossed. :howdy:

We just got home. The fair was fine but the parking area was a mud pit. We were parked on the end and we we got out the entire side of our van facing the 'road' looked like we went off roading. I am assuming this was from cars getting stuck and their tires spraying mud everywhere. Several people needed to be pushed out a spaces.

I parked at LMS- The field parking was awful. Very crowded today.

:yay: Glad I made the decision not to go this morning. I didn't want to get stuck in the mud over there in the parking lot. But I also have a really low tolerance level for traipsing through the mud & muck, not to mention the general stinkiness of the livestock when it rains at a fair!
I guess I'm only a fair weather fair person.
