Since we didn't get to eat vendor food at the Blessing of the Fleet today, I made tomorrow's planned dinner for tonight.

Cilantro and soy sauce marinated sirloin steak, steamed green beans with sea salt and lemon zest, and a baked potato with ranch and crumbled bacon. Single barrel Jack on ice.

I like them both. Bisquick is awesome and also makes the best pancakes. IMO
I'm going to the Blessing of the Fleet today, too, so I am making chicken and dumplings for dinner. Starting this morning, then finishing by making homemade dumplings when I get back. I'm sure we'll be cold and need something hearty when we get back. :howdy:

I never had the "slick" (flat) dumplings until I moved to Maryland.

Chicken and dumplings sounds delicious - that may be what we're having tonight. And Wenchy, I make the puffy dumplings. I didn't even know about flat ones until Dustin's grandmother made them a few years ago. I prefer puffy, as that's what I grew up eating.
Glad I started a trend with the Chicken & Dumplings!
We had good old vendor food today at the Blessing of the Fleet - and I'm not cooking, so I'm ordering pizza tonight!

I've got chicken soup/stew & butternut squash soup down. I need to focus on a good beef vegetable soup this year, I think. :yay:

Today, beef stew in the crockpot. I got adventurous and tossed in a sweet potato in addition to the red-skinned potatoes.
Somebody please share a recipe for butternut squash soup. I've got one in the vegetable drawer that almost went into the stew. I usually just buy some at Safeway.

I never had the flat dumplings until I moved here either. MIL makes what she calls chicken pot pie, which is really more like a chicken & dumplings recipe. All 3 of her grown sons love it and ask her to make it every so often. Hubby has made it a few times and it's pretty good.
