Quite often when I click on the back button, nothing happens. I noticed that when this happens, the address it tries to go to is "http://googleleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/drt/s". It looks like it is trying to sell me something. somd is the only website I've noticed this. Is this spyware?

I'll forward this to David and he can take a look. He knows more about the Google ads stuff than I do.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The best thing to do is to do a screen capture and post it when you have an issue like this. If you have Vista or Windows 7, you can use the SNiPPING TOOL from the ACCESSORIES menu to do a screen capture.

You might have to resize the issue before the forum will allow you to upload it, or better yet, just email it to support-at-somd.com with an explanation. I rarely scan the forum posts.

Another tread about it here (http://forums.somd.com/computers-technology-internet/234015-weird-url-problem.html#post4673654).

It must be some kind of cookie or spyware. I get it once in a while when I click on certain obituaries and certain news items. I hear my computer click a number of times and then I know it's been loaded into my computer.

When I have to double click to go back one page, I go to internet options and delete my cookies and browsing history and everything's ok after that.

Sorry to hijack your thread but is there a way to disable the Private In Browsing some computers have? Or, a way to still see where this person went?

Everyone gets that in FireFox if you click and HOLD the button down. Click once again to make it disappear. Click QUICKLY on the back button to go back a page.

That isn't the right answer.

I Googled it and found this: DoubleClick - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DoubleClick)

It doesn't explain how to avoid it but explains what it is.

This is what torks me:

"DoubleClick is often linked with the controversy over spyware because browser HTTP cookies are set to track users as they travel from website to website and record which commercial advertisements they view and select while browsing. DoubleClick is considered to be malware by several commercial organizations (Adaware, Symantec, Spybot) which detect it and provide the tools to block/remove it.

DoubleClick has also been criticized for misleading users by offering an opt-out option that is insufficiently effective. According to a San Francisco IT consulting group, although the opt-out option affects cookies, DoubleClick does not allow users to opt out of IP address-based tracking.[8]

This raised fears that the combined company would link anonymous Web-surfing profiles with personally identifiable information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail, address, etc.) collected by Abacus.

Controversy grew when it was discovered that sensitive financial information users entered on a popular Web site that offered financial software was being sent to DoubleClick, which delivered the advertisements."

I don't use Firefox though. Google Dbl click has been relentless today. So far I've had to clear my cookies 3 times in 2 minutes just from reading the news, viewing the obituaries or working on the forum. It clicks my computer a lot and causes me to have to double click to return to a previous page.

I use AVG as my anti virus and whatever Windows XP firewall uses. Do I need to update my antivirus to prevent adware or spyware? Is there an other way to stop this or is it a SoMd .com issue?

Switch to Firefox, update your adware and spyware and antivirus, clear all cookies and be concern that your provider is not bouncing google ads to you via their DNS. There are spam/ad spam free DNS servers out there but they cost you.

Google is becoming the new company to hate.

I don't know how I did my job without them before they were the "it."
