Nope, there just isn't anything left to talk about. They are still the same old Skins under the same old owner doing the same old crap.
Although they looked pretty exciting in the beginning, they have completely deflated into usual uninterested group of individuals.

Nothing to talk about? They were 3-1, and starting a new QB. How does that translate into nothing to talk about? I know most people had Carolina winning this game, but for there to be no fan-talk about the game at all says quite a bit.
As I said before, Washington fans are known for this sort of extreme bandwagoning. Waiting until there's a comfortable lead to start talking.

Beck is a much better choice at QB than Grossman, losing Hightower early changed the game plan a bit as Torain was not able to pick up the mo' that HT had started. Our secondary is populated by frauds and has been operating with smoke and mirrors all season. D. Hall could not cover me on his best day, much less someone the caliber of Steve Smith. I had high hopes for Kevin Barnes but he hasn't caught up to the speed of the game at this level yet.
Most uneducated fans sweaar that Andrew Luck is the answer, yeah, so was Heath Shuler.

Were! They (especially the D) have completely gone completely flat. Just on the surface they had intensity at the start of the season. That's gone. They seem to be back to their usual selves they have been for the past 10 years. There isn't much else to say right now.
Having been a fan of the Skins since the 60s. I think that hardly defines me as a 'bandwagon' fan. I still look forward to watching them. I will always be a fan. Regardless of wins/losses, it's a tradition for me to put them on and think about all those days I used to watch with my family and friends; particularly my dad. Those days are gone. So I watch with a sense of joy in memory of my dad.

I missed the word on Hightower. What injury did he get?
I agree with you on the D. Today none of them could stop Carolina; not the running game, not the passing game. They have completely collapsed.

Looked like a catastrophic knee injury. Would not be surprised if he was done for the year.

My mistake. I had forgotten about the Dallas loss. Still, I had sensed some serious progress in the team since last year and despite the two recent losses, they're still only 1 game behind in what seems to be an up-for-grabs division.
Hopefully Hightower's injury isn't too bad.

Dude, they beat the Rams and Cardinals who between the two had one win. The first game of the season against the Giants was obviously a fluke because of the off season rust. The Skins just aren't a good team, again!

The Skins began the season as just another 8-8 team that might get to 9, or even 10 wins, if things went in their favor or, 7 or 6 wins if things don't. Life in the NFL for most teams.
We came into this season with quarterback unsettled, as usual, a third rate receiving corps, as usual, and questions on O line. As usual. The scary part is that the strength of the team, the D, is not doing well, at all and if Fletcher, who turns 70 next week, is going to be hobbled the rest of the season with a hammie, our heart and soul won't be out there either.
Good draft this last off season. Good decisions on free agents. We need several more to become a consistent 8, 9 win team in a tough year and a legitimate contender in good years.

Bills, 49'ers, Dolphins, Boys, Seahawks, Jets, Pats, Giants, Vikes and Eagles.
It is certainly possible but to do it, we will probably split with the Fish and Seattle meaning two games against weaklings, we'll beat one and lose to the other, same thing with San Fran and Buffalo, better teams we somehow pull one out, then I think we get one against one of the 3 division rivals, that's 6 wins. Maybe we beat Minnuhsodah to get to 7.
Not in my wildest dreams to I see us beating the Jets or Pats.

AH, not so fast! That was 'best case'. Thought I don't think it will happen, we could go 0 for and finished 3-13. Buffalo and San Fran are clearly better. The Fish and Hawks and Vikes, all those games are coin tosses. Jets, Pats, Boys, Giants, should all be in the hunt and Philly is a division foe and even if they are out of it, it's still a coin toss game.
My 6 is best case, your 5 is totally possible, if not probable, and 4 is reasonably possible. 3 and 7 are about as unlikely.
And, remembering we are the Redskins, we COULD finish 2-14 or even 1-15.

:yay::yay: Its not going to get any better this season, they are getting a ton of injuries to key players. A few of there strengths in the first few games, the offensive line, shuffled all around now by injuries to 3 of starters. Hightower hurt again, he was key player in the first couple of games before getting hurt, he comes back yesterday, Skins seemed to have a spark when he was in, now he is hurt again. Moss is out now, only played first quarter before breaking his hand. How often does a team lose its 2 best recievers to broken hands, fingers in its first 6 games.
They played a very lousy game yesterday, defense was terrible. Only bright spot if there is one for this team, is the defensive line, sure is nice to see them finally be able to have a pass rush and be able to get some sacks.
Secondary is still a problem, thought they might have been better this year without Carlos Rogers to blame, but same old song, need to learn how to tackle. Hall needs to just keep quiet and play better, he's not as great as he thinks he is.
Always next year, dump the season now lol, they might be just good enough not to be the worse team, so Andrew Luck is out of reach with a draft pick, doesnt have to be a number one pick, look how good the kid looked for Minnesota yesterday against one of top defensive teams and Super Bowl Champs the Packers.

Hightower - Out for season torn ACL and possible MCL (for good measure)
Moss - out 5-7 weeks with a surgically repaired index finger. 3 pins!
Cooley - Knee issues again. Dr. Andrews is going to check it out tonight.
Grossman - Hospitalized with pneumonia. Returns on Wednesday.
T. Williams - High ankle sprain.
Looks like the kiddie corps of WRs will be out there now, :yay: hopefully they have a good week of practice on the O side and get some timing down. On the D side hopefully D. Hall breaks a leg or something so we can IR then waive him and find someone who knows what "Bump and run" means and who won't get beat EVERY GAME by what opposing offenses are now calling, "Slant and gone 23, on 1".

Yep he has played his last game as a Redskin. He has been injury prone the past 2-3 years after signing that big contract. If they could trade him they might be able to get maybe 3rd or 4 th round pick for him, or maybe package him with some draft picks and maybe move up in the draft.

This is another thing that needs to change, a la NE Pats, trading premier players who no longer fit the team and get real draft value out of them instead. Cooley, Moss, Portis 3 or even 4 years ago, all those people were not critical to the teams success, especially once they chose Davis, you gotta get when the getting is good. Nature of the beast of the modern NFL.

I have a man crush on Cooley, and I am not ashamed to admit it BUT in my heart of hearts I feel that the injuries are catching up to him. I would love to see him come back and play one more season after getting his knee squared away just to finish out his career as a Redskin and as an active player. If the front office is inclined to trade him after this season we will not get anything better than a 5th rounder for him.
IMHO, best case scenario is being able to come back and complete a season or two then retire. Second best (depending on recupertion time) is to restructure his salary for next season play 3/4 of the season then retire as a Redskin.
I hate the thought of having to see him leave the game, but he is still a young man and I feel that he would be a good addition to the Redskins broadcasting family especially as a possible replacement for Sam Huff.

I like #47 as well but the time has come. Use whatever value he has left, add to it and get a frickin QB. I figured this season would be a bust and if we end up with 7 wins I'll be happy, it's a rebuilding team and hopefully Shanny's plan will come together in the next 2 yrs, until we get a QB, we will never be an elite team. If Shanny's plan craps, we will be in a better position to go a different path, at least we're doing in through they draft and youth.

I don't think its his last game as a Redskin. He'll sign for a lesser contract next season. He'll likely be the #2 TE behind Fred Davis.

How quickly we forget. I guess last year was a year worth forgetting.
TE's aren't running backs. They can last years in the NFL.
What was Cooley's career year? Last year. Yes, last year.
He's not injury prone. Two seasons ago he had a broken tibia. Tough break.
This year he breaks a finger and has a lingering knee which isn't quite there. He'll be a Skin next year.

Well, they could if they wanted to continue in the trend they've been in for the past two decades.
Play the young guys and get them some work. What do you accomplish by playing a 37+ year old TO?

Even if he was the 3rd receiver on the depth chart... Just seems like to me especially w/ Moss out, they could use a veteran so they don't have to throw to the tight ends every other play.
