I'd say that's showing remarkable restraint, personally I'd use a .357

Good question. Call the Non-Emergency number to your Local Police Department, and ask them.

Is it your dog?

If it's running loose in the street I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

If it's on the other side of a chain link fence there will probably be issues

If you live in St.Marys Co. you are allowed to protect yourself if an agressive dog is loose on you property. We have a leash law that specifies dogs must be tied ,leashed,or fenced, and it is fairly specific as to what you can do to protect yourself or your own pets if a dog is loose on your property. You can find the regulations on the County web site. If you live in another county go to their web site.

Check MD law reference to possession and brandishing a stun gun.

I THOUGHT it was illegal to carry one but have never researched it.

No. It's when I walk my dog in our neighborhood, there's several dogs that are on the front yards unrestrained and keeps approaching us.

Pepper spray might be more effective. A .357 is overkill and would land you in jail if it were discharged in a neighborhood.

As long as they are on the front yards, they're legal.

Get a squirt gun and fill it up with ammonia. Very effective against a dog

So, you wanna stun someones dog while it is in their yard because it approaches you as you walk by the house?
Prolly not a good idea and depending on the mentality of the owner, you may be the next one getting stunned.

I would think depending on the dog's demeanor, a tazer could make the dog more aggressive.

The dog down the street used to be very aggressive when she was younger. The owner finally trained her to understand her own yard boundaries (she wandered and thought the whole neighborhood was hers).

We always walked on the far side of the road to reduce her feeling of being threatened. Also had to train our mouthy little pup to not challenge her. On days I didn't want to deal with it we took a right out of the driveway instead of a left for the walks.

Not in their yard anymore if they are on the sidewalk area. That area is considered public.
