Anyone here know who to call? My cat has been up a tree since atleast yesterday afternoon. He's up atleast 30 feet. We've tried calling him down and thought he'd come down once he got hungry but he was still up there this morning. Please help....

Put a can of nice smelly cat food at the bottom of the tree. Cat will be down as soon as it gets hungry.

Any chance the local fire department would do a kitty rescue? Or is that just on TV?

Called them last night. There are no "ladder" companies in Calvert County.

Solution: Get your husband to find a long ladder and go get the cat. The end.

I gave a serious answer. When he gets hungry enough, he will find his way down.

Are there tree branches between him and the ground? If not, maybe you can find somebody with a climbing tree stand that would be willing to give a rescue attempt.

The Fire Dept Usually Asks " Lady, Did You Ever See Cat Bones In A Tree? Trust Us The Cat Will Find A Way Down,"

Is the cats life worth more than his life or health?

How old is the cat? Is this cat normally an outside cat? Maybe the cat just hasn't learned how to go backwards down a tree yet? If the cat is high in the tree, generally they back down the tree instead of going face first.

Sounds like a long ladder may be needed to try and get as close as you can to the cat. Does the cat usually come to you?

Maybe we can find someone with a long ladder that lives/works in your area that can stop by to help?

If you try to go up after the cat, he will climb even higher until he reaches the tippy tippy top, tries to perch on a tiny limb, and crashes to his death. Cats are uncooperative like that.

So leave kitty alone and he will come down when he's good and ready.

Unlike buttered toast, kitty will land on its feet.

North Beach has a ladder. They actually came out and helped me get my cat out of a tree about 5 years ago. I thought dunkirk had a ladder also? don't call - go up there and talk to them. and don't call 911.

crying helps.

Is the cats life worth more than his life or health? Guess that depends on how she feels about her husband and if his life insurance is paid up.

Put a can of nice smelly cat food at the bottom of the tree. Cat will be down as soon as it gets hungry. But this is probably a better solution.

Solomons, PF and North Beach all have ladder trucks. They are not normally in the business of getting cats out of trees though.

For the safety of everyone including the cat -- leave it alone and it will come down. As someone else posted the cat will either move higher or fight its rescuer if you go up after it. Either the resucer or the cat or both would be injured in the subsequent fall. Put some cat food at the bottom of the tree and it will come down when hunger outweighs the fear of coming down or of whatever sent it up there in the first place.

Saw this creepy movie once, might be called the Wrong Turn, these freaks wanted to get these people out of a tree, so the lit a fire at the bottom, hope this helps.
