Was just watching 'The Chew' on tv, and they made a turkey soup with dumplings.

Michael Symon's Turkey Dumpling Soup - the chew - ABC.com (http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/Thanksgiving-Michael-Symon-Turkey-Dumpling-Soup)

Not so much for the soup, that's pretty standard, but the dumplings sound really good and can be used in almost anything.

Nutmeg in the dumplings. That's a new one on me, I'll have to try that. :yay:

I sprinkle nutmeg on my fettucine alfredo. It adds a whole new dimension of flavor to it. I'll bet it is good in dumplings too

I love making dumplings too, probably a standard among Americans. A cool thing I recently learned about was Matzoh Balls. The mix is available at Giant and I'm sure doing it from scratch wouldn't be too hard. They have a heavy personality but are flavorful without seasoning, and if you add seasoning like nutmeg, they'll be very interesting indeed.

Funny thing. I walk through Walmart and I have no desire for weeks afterward to have dumplings. Even though I always have wanted to try making chicken and dumplings.

:ohwell: Eh... it sounded good, but the texture was kinda weird. I think it would have been better with onion instead of chives as well. Hardly noticed the nutmeg.

Experiment in progress......

I was wondering from reading the recipe how they'd taste. I have to say I use plain old Bisquick for my dumplings & they are just fantastic! Always come out great, too.

Yeah, for chicken and dumplings, Bisquick is always a good bet.

Christy's mom made the best chicken and dumplings I'd ever had. Imagine my surprise when I found out they were Bisquick.

Just sort of OT - about nutmeg. Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) adds nutmeg to her meatballs for spaghetti and meatballs. It's the best meatball and sauce recipe I've ever tried. I'm sold on nutmeg - I'll have to try it in fettucini next time I make it.
