At long last, a Tivo with DirecTv HD tuners was listed as available. I ordered one via DirecTv, paid the $200 and expected it installed today. Their local tech comes and says he has no Tivo HD, wants to put in plain DVR. Called DirecTv, they insisted he was supposed to do a full install of the new TIVO, including tweaking dish on roof.
So, DirecTV insists they are to install it, the technician supervisor says he doesn't. Somewhere the lines are crossed. Canceled order and hope they take charge off for new TIVO. My Standard Def Tivo has tuner problems so wanted to keep both, with old one reduced to one tuner.
Have been DirecTv customer for many years, bought first system at Radio Shack. They need to get their act together.
Wonder if they will take off my three months free Showtime?

Contact the VP of Customer Service (ellen.filipiak@directv.com). Her office will get you set up.
As for the THR-22 (DirecTiVo HD), I myself wouldn't want one. Maybe when it was first announced 3+ years ago(when I upgraded from the SD DirecTiVo to an HR-21 HD-DVR and was still used to the TiVo UI), but not any more. The THR-22 is a crippled HR-22 with the crippled TiVo UI from the old SD DirecTiVo. It does not have many of the features a regular HD-DVR have. No Whole Home DVR, TV Apps, YouTube, Netflix, etc. However, there are pluses; unlimited season passes compared to a limit of 50 series links on the HD-DVR, Swivel Search, Deleted Items folder and full time 30 minute dual live buffers compared to the user activated 90 minute DLB on the HD-DVR(although this last one could also be a negative).

I use a Roku box for streaming video from Internet, mainly Glenn Beck. Has many others and one can add "Channels".

Contacted customer service. They said I would get TiVo yesterday. Tech came again without TiVo. Told him I wanted TiVo. After calling, he was told his boss would bring it.
Came back later With TiVo. Said it was first he had seen, had to help him thru setup.
He did not have wall plate to handle two RF and one phone. He would not go to store to get one. Told him where they were. I think he may have cut phone line drying second hole for RF, no callerID.
Had to give him a network cable since he had none. Then he left before fully setup. Fortunatly, I am familiar with this equipment.
Took my old HD converter which I owned.
