The Galaxy Nexus has finally arrived on Verizon today! Anybody going to pick one up?
Galaxy Nexus (http://www.google.com/nexus/)
I'm actually going to wait. I get a bigger discount if I wait until March. By then I'll get enough reviews about it to help me decide if I want to pick one up (and the price should drop by then) or if I want to pick up one of the quad-core phones that should be coming out at around the same time. But it sure is tempting...
Oh, and there's a white RAZR out today too.

Finally. I'm going to play around with that and the Razr and hopefully make a decision.
My original Droid is about to kick it just about any day now. Definitely thinking about it.

FYI, it's cheaper if you go third-party...
$249 to upgrade at Amazon:
AmazonWireless: Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android Phone (Verizon Wireless) (http://wireless.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Android-Wireless/dp/B0061R2A1S)
$249 to upgrade at Target:
Galaxy Nexus by Samsung for Verizon Wireless - Target Mobile (http://www.targetmobilestore.com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=36415_ba59dbdf8c73462396ca6c0a06886e91)
$175 to upgrade at LetsTalk (never heard of them...and it looks like it isn't working):
LetsTalk Offering Verizon Galaxy Nexus To New Customers For Only $155 ($175 For Upgraders) (http://phandroid.com/2011/12/14/letstalk-offering-verizon-galaxy-nexus-to-new-customers-for-only-155-175-for-upgraders/)

With my loyalty discount (RIP NE2), I can get it for $249 from verizon. Letstalk seems too good to be true, so I'm not going to mess with that. I have a $50 off that I paid $25 for on one of those deals sites, but it says it can't be used with other promotions. I'm not sure if the 2-year contract price will count as a promotion.. I'm hoping it doesn't.
Going to BJs later to pick up some things and stop by the vzw kiosk to mess around with the phones since it's not as crowded as the actual store.

Love that kiosk, best damn place to deal with Verizon. My OD is a bit long in the tooth, but since I am a hard keyboard sort of guy, its gonna be the Droid 4 for me......basically a thicker Razr, no kevlar on the back, slightly smaller screen.
Droid 4 official pics and RAZR-with-keyboard confirming specs leak out - Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/27/droid-4-official-pics-and-razr-with-keyboard-confirming-specs-le/)

Too bad VZW screwed up the Google Wallet availability on the Nexus.

Cool!
That's one advantage of the Android community over the iPhone world.

I got one last week but I'm thinking about taking it back and exchanging it for a Rezound. I don't do all of the rooting etc with it and I came from a Dinc so I'm used to the sense UI.
This phone gets pretty hot, moreso at the top where it's thinner, and on the front screen. My Dinc would get warm if I used it for an extended period, but this seems to get a lot hotter, faster.
I'm not liking the camera on the nexus. I stopped carrying my actual camera around once I got my Dinc because it took really good pictures and it was one less thing to carry around. The panoramic mode is kinda cool though, and smoother to use than the Bionic's panoramic mode.
Viewing netflix, the video quality seems a bit poor. It could be the streaming connection. I recorded a few videos over the weekend and the quality is pretty good on those, both on the phone and viewing them on facebook.
Also, I don't like that I can't control the volume of the ringtone and notifications separately like I could on my Dinc. I like to silence the notifications at night and leave the ringer on in case of emergencies. The sound (both ringer/notification and also music/video playback) on the nexus is also pretty quiet compared to my Dinc, even at max volume.
The placement of the external speaker is on the back toward the bottom of the phone. So if you're holding it with hands on both ends, it's easy to cover and distort the sound with your right hand.
I noticed that I get 1-2 bars (with no case yet) on the nexus compared to full bars on my Dinc. I've read that others have noticed this as well and the Rezound kept up full signal.
The battery life is pretty bad, even with gps/bluetooth/lower brightness turned off/down. But then again, my Dinc started out the same way but over the course of having it, I had played with it enough to make the battery last longer if I wanted it to.
I'm a pretty indecisive person and I seem to have buyer's remorse a lot. But since I mainly use my phone for calls, texts, netflix and a taking pictures, I think I'll be better off with seeing if the Rezound is a better fit for me.

Thanks for the review. I have a DInc and have been thinking about getting the new Nexus. I guess I should wait to see how the Nexus does before getting one. I kind of like getting something different each time I upgrade for a change of pace. If I get another HTC phone it seems like I would be getting pretty much what I have now. SenceUI, etc.

When you're ready to buy a phone in March, if someone mentioned the Nexus to you you'd probably say "why would I buy that old piece of crap when there's all this new stuff out!" :lmao:

Well the good thing about trying it now, if you wanted, is the extended holiday return/exchange.

I'm grandfathered in the unlimited plan. Anyway, my data usage doesn't even reach 100MB in a typical month. I use Wifi for anything big and typically don't stream music or movies.

I'm grandfathered as well but that goes away as soon as I upgrade. My highest data usage was around 800MB. The places where I spend most of my time (home & work) both have Wifi coverage.

As far as I know, if you're grandfathered in, you keep the unlimited data plan even if you upgrade. My current plan, after getting the nexus, includes "Unlimited Email & Web for Smartphones (Personal Email)" for 29.99/month. And then I have the option to change to the 300MB/ 4GB (for $30)/ 10GB etc etc.

I hope you're right because everyone I know who has upgraded, after Verizon changed the data pricing, had to go with the new pricing structure. In other words, the grandfathering lasts for the life of the current contract. Upgrading starts a new contract. New contract, new terms. Like I said, I hope you're right.

This is a screenshot of my plan. It sure looks like it's still unlimited to me!

I just upgraded my phone in Sept. and was told then, that if you are on the old plan you stay on the old plan unless you change it.
Now granted they could change this at any time.

That's cool. I'll have to make sure they don't change anything when I upgrade. Did you upgrade at the store or online?

I upgraded at the kiosk in BJs. When I tried out the bionic, I ordered that from the website and it also kept my unlimited plan.

I went and exchanged for my Rezound today and so far am very happy with the decision.
I have two extra screen protectors for the Nexus if anyone wants them.
Got my nexus over the holiday. Aside from some signal issues that theyre supposed to be patching, its great :)

This. The Verizon changes are only for new customers.
