I have a Philips plasma TV mounted on my wall. It has gone on the fritz and needs repair. It's a comon Philips problem that can be resolved with an internet downloadable patch which I've tried to do myself, but to no avail. Can anyone recommend a reputable, trustworthy in-home repair service, or even someone who needs extra cash? I live near Waldorf.

Hmmm, exactly what is the problem, and where is your fix going south? I'm a bit far out, but maybe we can clarify it down to help you solve it yourself.

The MENU screen keeps popping up. I downloaded the patch from my computer onto a thumb drive but the TV won't read the thumb drive - or I just don't know how to 'load' the thumb drive properly for the TV to read it. It's a pretty easy fix (so they say) but I'm a computer idiot.

Okay, heres the instructions I found.

1. Download this file

2. Unzip it

3. Put it on a clean USB memory stick

4. UNPLUG THE TV

5. Plug it in the USB port on the BACK of the tv (not the side) if there is one

6. Plug in the tv with the stick inserted

7. Follow the on screen instructions

Okay, most likely fail points I see here for the non-computer savvy is the unzip process, and possibly the unplug before inserting the usb drive. SO, do you know if you did not unzip the file? If you are unsure if you did, that fine. We can walk you through that real easy.

No problem, do you need a quick primer on how to unzip files?
