Anyone have a good green bean recipe, other than a casserole? You'd think I'd have my Christmas dinner planned out by now but I don't. Thanks!

Sautee in olive oil and shallots then toss in some toasted almonds.

Saute in sesame oil w/ garlic, a dash or two of soy :yum:

Or you can cook up a piece or two of bacon in a pot then top w/ some green beans and cook in a crock pot all day.

Saute in butter. They should have a slight crunch. Add salt and pepper to taste. Oh yeah, and use fresh beans only. None of that canned mush.

parboil some fresh green beans, dump into ice water when they are a little crisper than you want them. gather in bundles and tie with a thick strip of (raw)bacon. place bundles on a cookie sheet. In a pan saute some butter and fresh garlic..pour over bundles and stick under the broiler until the bacon is cooked..yummmm

Saute with a little olive oil and some good balsamic vinegar. I can just sit and eat the whole pan. :yum:

Ooh, that sounds really good!

I fix them the way my grandmother used to, boil them with salt, pepper and bacon fat and new potatoes. After they've finished cooking I add butter. Not healthy but sooooo goood.

It is tasty, easily customizeable, and it is very pretty on the table. Looks fancy without being a PITA. There are all kinds of glazes and sauces you can use..but frankly butter or olive oil and garlic is the best.

Or boil with a Smoked Turkey Neck, or Drummie!! No need to add salt.

I dump a can into my small slow cooker and add some ham scraps. The longer they slow cook, the better.

Fresh: I like roasting them (on 425 for about 15 minutes) with olive oil, salt and pepper and maybe a couple cloves of smashed garlic to add a little extra flavor.

Another great way is to cook several chopped and seasoned (salt and pepper) leeks on medium-high in olive oil for about 10 minutes, add 1/3 cup fresh chopped dill and about a pound of fresh trimmed green beans and cook until the beans lose their raw bite. Mmm soo good!

Canned: I render the fat out of a couple pieces of bacon in a hot pan then add my green beans and water and cook on low until I"m ready to eat them.
