I hate soup..but I needed a lunch item that was relatively low carb.. Got a can of progresso light italian style meatball soup. It had meatballs in it alright..they were about the size of tic tacs.

:cds:

I guess its back to cheese and lunchmeat tomorrow. :ohwell:

I love that soup! Italian Style Wedding is the best allthough the meat balls are small but I pick them out anyway.

I made a big pot of soup the other day and froze a lot of it. Red lentils, chicken stock, spinach, mixed vegetables, and egg noodles. Turned out more like stew though.

It happens that I have chicken pot pie guts in the freezer. It could easily be repurposed as chicken and dumplings, so I believe that is what I'll do for this rainy cold day.

I threw in some red lentils because I heard they were especially healthy for us - and that they take on the flavor of whatever dish you put them in. Didn't use a lot ... only half the bag.

Today I decided to get a salad from wawa instead as I have not been to the grocery store yet. Turkey BLT..why turkey, I don't know. not bad though at 7 total carbs including the dressing.

Iceburg lettuce should be outlawed. blech.

I eat VERY little meat. I've been at my ideal :boxing: weight for over 10 years now that's what seems to works for me. I like pasta and bread too much to ever try low carb. Good luck! You can do it!

I hate your guts.

How to Make Good (Beer) Bread « meandering wildly (http://blog.johnath.com/2008/06/29/how-to-make-good-beer-bread/)

Ingredients:

1lb flour (white, whole wheat, whatever turns your crank. I have pretty good success starting with about 10-14oz unbleached white flour, and topping up with whole wheat, but going all white flour is the classic french bread recipe) plus some for working.
One 12oz bottle of beer (or, I suppose, 12oz of water).
2tsp salt
1tsp instant yeast (if you buy the traditional yeast instead of instant, I presume you already know how to activate it)
Method in Brief:

Combine dry ingredients
Stir in beer
Knead
Cover, let rise for at least 1 hour
Punch down mixture, recover. Let rise for at least 2 hours or refrigerated overnight
Pre-heat oven to 450F
Form dough into loaf, slash top, dust lightly with flour
When dough is placed in oven, spray oven surfaces with water, or throw in two ice cubes
Bake for 25-30min or until the crust is nicely browned. Let stand for at least 15 minutes.

I have some pills called carb blockers that you are supposed to take before eating a high carb meal. I always forget to take them so I can't say if they work or not. They have natural ingredients in them like cinnamon.

so, in my second attempt at soup that was relatively low carb..I hit a winner with walmart of all places..up by the deli and prepared foods they have some ready to eat soups..I got chicken tortilla soup  170 cals and 14 carbs 10 g protein for a decent sizeable bowl..and it is actually pretty tasty..maybe a teeny bit salty for me, but I am pretty sensitive to salt, so it would probably be perfect for others..they had a couple of other types, I will get it again. :buddies:

safeway has some pretty delicious prepared soups as well. Their chicken Tortilla is just fabulous, but I am not sure about the carbs in it. But just suggesting it as another option to check
